None of those features is unusual alone. Together, they make a strong case for a digital watch designed around convenience rather than complication.
The Big Display Solves a Real Daily Problem
Small digital watches can pack in functions while making the information harder to scan. The AE-1600H takes the opposite approach, using a large, angular LCD with room for the time and function indicators.
At 54.1 × 49.7 × 15.9 mm, it is undeniably substantial on the wrist. But its resin construction keeps the weight to 52 grams, which matters more here than the big dimensions suggest.
Casio describes the screen as easy to read, which is a manufacturer claim rather than a substitute for hands-on testing across different viewing angles. What is objectively useful is the large display and the dedicated light button on the front of the case.
That front-mounted button triggers an amber LED backlight with afterglow. It is a minor design choice, but it makes more sense than burying one of the watch’s most-used controls among the side buttons.
The 10-Year Battery Is the Low-Maintenance Advantage
