You need a clear wall, a dim room, the right angle, decent focus, and speakers that do not sound thin. For students, renters, and anyone without space for a large TV, the appeal is obvious. The Acer C350e Full HD Projector takes an unusual approach. It is built to project movies and shows, but it also has a detachable AI Badge that can display photos and widgets when the projector is not being used. The Badge can also act as a remote and provide Google Gemini-powered AI interactions. It is a clever idea, although buyers should distinguish Acer’s promising product claims from features that have yet to be independently tested.
A big image without dedicating a room to a TV
The C350e has a native 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution and accepts 4K input, though it does not project in native 4K. Acer rates it for images up to 100 inches, with a 1.3 throw ratio; its spec sheet cites a 69.5-inch image from two meters away.
That could make it useful in a dorm, bedroom, or compact apartment, where it can deliver a much larger image than a small TV without claiming a permanent spot on a wall or console. At 0.93 kg, it should also be easy to move between rooms.
Autofocus, vertical and horizontal keystone correction, four-corner correction, and a stand that rotates 360 degrees and tilts 120 degrees should make setup less fussy. You could place it on a shelf, table, or bedside surface instead of arranging a room around it.
Still, these tools are conveniences, not substitutes for proper placement. The sharpest image will come from placing the projector as squarely as possible in front of a flat, light-colored surface.
The AI Badge is the C350e’s real differentiator
Most compact projectors are useful only when they are turned on for viewing. Acer wants the C350e to earn its place on a desk or shelf all day. The detachable AI Badge can display personal photo slideshows, a clock, calendar, and alarm widgets, while also serving as a remote control.
Acer also says the Badge enables AI-driven interactions powered by Google Gemini. If that experience works well, it could make the C350e feel less like a device that gets packed away after movie night and more like a small smart display with a projector attached.
This is the important caveat: those are Acer’s launch claims, not conclusions supported by hands-on testing. There are not yet independent reviews evaluating the Badge’s responsiveness, Gemini integration, privacy controls, or long-term usefulness. Acer has also not detailed the regional availability, language support, or exact feature set for its AI functions. The Badge is an intriguing reason to keep watching this product, but not a fully proven reason to buy it.
Brightness will decide whether it fits your room
Acer rates the C350e at 350 ANSI lumens, alongside an 8,000 LED-lumen figure for its light source. For shoppers comparing projector performance, the 350 ANSI-lumen rating is the more meaningful figure.
The practical result is that this is best considered a dim-room projector. It should make more sense for bedroom viewing with curtains drawn, a nighttime dorm setup, or an evening movie session. It is not a specification that suggests a strong image in a bright living room or during daytime sports viewing.
Acer claims the LED light source can last up to 30,000 hours, offers quick start and shutdown, and uses mercury-free materials. Those are manufacturer specifications rather than long-term durability evidence. They suggest a lower-maintenance projector than a traditional lamp-based model, but independent testing will be needed to assess brightness retention and reliability.
Streaming and sound are useful, with limits
The C350e includes a built-in smart system that Acer says can stream content from popular apps and platforms. That is convenient, but Acer has not published a complete app list or confirmed service availability by region. Buyers should not assume a particular app will be supported until the retail software is finalized.
It also has two 3W speakers and Bluetooth 5.4 for audio output. The built-in speakers should be adequate for quiet, casual viewing, while Bluetooth output gives you a path to better sound through headphones or an external speaker.
Gaming remains an open question. Acer has not supplied input-lag numbers, refresh-rate specifications, or a dedicated gaming mode, so there is no evidence yet that it is a strong choice for fast competitive games.
Price and buyer fit
Acer says the C350e will be available in EMEA in the first quarter of 2027, starting at €199. No US price or release date has been announced.
The Acer C350e Full HD Projector makes the most sense for people who watch mainly after dark, wants a Full HD big-screen option without installing a TV, and appreciates the added utility of a detachable photo, widget, and AI display. It could be an especially nice fit for a dorm, small apartment, or bedroom where flexible placement matters.
