Most people assume Mini LED is what you settle for when OLED isn’t in the budget. LG built that perception itself, spending over a decade positioning OLED as the standard for picture quality. But the 2026 QNED evo range suggests the company is done treating Mini LED as the second tier, starting with a screen so large it could double as a wall.

So the real question is: can 13 years of OLED leadership actually change what a Mini LED TV can do?

The company just rolled out its refreshed QNED evo Mini LED TV series for 2026, topped by a new 115-inch QNED90 that pushes LG further into ultra-large territory. The lineup spans six model tiers, from the flagship QNED90 down through the QNED85, QNED82, QNED8M, QNED80, and the entry-level QNED70, with availability starting this month in Korea, the U.S., and Europe.

Richer color reproduction across most of the lineup

The headline technology this year is Dynamic QNED Color Pro, a color mapping system that LG says helps maintain rich and accurate tones even in bright HDR scenes. Intertek has certified the technology for achieving 100 percent Color Volume, meaning the color gamut coverage matches or exceeds the DCI-P3 color space. That certification matters for sports viewers and gamers who rely on consistent color across bright, fast-moving content.

Powering the top-tier models is LG’s Alpha 8 AI Processor Gen 3, which appears in the 115-inch QNED90, the QNED85, and the QNED82. With 13 years of OLED leadership behind it, LG says the AI processor brings its OLED light control skills to the QNED platform.

Precision dimming gets sharper on the flagship

The 115-inch LG QNED90 gets the most aggressive backlight treatment with Precision Dimming Ultra, which LG describes as managing thousands of local dimming zones. The system controls light output zone by zone, aiming for deeper blacks and cleaner highlights with stronger contrast in darker scenes. For a Mini LED panel at 115 inches, that level of zone-by-zone control is a welcome move, especially for keeping detail visible in dark scenes on a screen this large.LG 2026 QNED evo Mini LED TV

The QNED85 and QNED82 share the same Alpha 8 AI Processor Gen 3, though LG reserves the full Precision Dimming Ultra feature for the flagship screen. LG hasn’t detailed the specific dimming capabilities of the other models in the lineup.

AI processing tackles upscaling and sound

LG packed several AI-driven enhancements into the 2026 QNED evo range. AI Super Upscaling, available on the QNED90 and QNED85, uses deep learning to sharpen textures, edges, and fine detail when scaling lower-resolution content up to 4K. On a 115-inch display, upscaling quality shows more than it would on a 65-inch panel, so the processing power here matters.

AI Picture Pro identifies faces, bodies, and other on-screen elements to improve depth and detail. Dynamic Tone Mapping Pro analyzes each frame individually to adjust resolution, brightness, and clarity, and it’s available across the QNED90, QNED85, QNED82, and QNED8M models.LG 2026 QNED evo Mini LED Lineup Price

On the audio side, AI Sound Pro creates a virtual 11.1.2 channel surround sound effect through the TV’s built-in speakers. It won’t replace a real sound system, but for viewers who want surround sound without extra hardware, the processing makes audio feel more spread out and directional.

Gaming features target competitive players

The 115-inch QNED90 supports variable refresh rate (VRR) up to 165Hz, AMD FreeSync Premium, and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM). Motion Booster pushes the effective refresh rate to 330Hz on the flagship model, with LG saying it significantly reduces motion blur in fast-paced shooters and racing games where split-second responses matter.

LG Gaming Portal rounds out the gaming feature set, providing access to cloud gaming services and native web games directly from the TV. FreeSync Premium support extends across the QNED90, QNED85, QNED82, and QNED8M. LG says the combination of high refresh rates and low latency keeps rapid in-game action sharp and responsive, with Motion Booster reducing motion blur during the kind of split-second sequences where it matters most.

Sports fans get a single hub

Running on webOS 26, the 2026 QNED evo TVs include Sports Portal, a single hub for live content, scores, match schedules, and league standings. Sports Alert sends notifications for selected teams and leagues, covering score updates, match results, and upcoming games. An AI Concierge card displays key stats like match progress and game-result predictions directly on screen, helping viewers stay updated on multiple games at once.

The prediction feature is a notable addition. LG frames the AI Concierge card as a way to help viewers stay updated on multiple games at once, while Sports Portal lets fans check key information without switching apps or inputs.

Smart features and security

Voice ID recognizes individual users and loads personalized home screens automatically. AI Concierge offers suggestions based on what you’re watching. Built-in AI from Google Gemini and Microsoft Copilot lets users ask questions, look things up, and search for related content while watching.

LG Shield, a CES 2026 Innovation Award winner, uses strong encryption to keep user data and personalized experiences safe across the platform.

The range breaks down across six model tiers: The 115-inch QNED90 sits at the top with Dynamic QNED Color Pro, Precision Dimming Ultra, AI Super Upscaling, 165Hz VRR, and 330Hz Motion Booster. The 100-inch QNED85 offers a theater-like experience with AI Super Upscaling and the Alpha 8 AI Processor Gen 3. The QNED82 shares the same processor. The QNED8M and QNED80 offer Mini LED clarity for everyday viewing, while the QNED70 provides what LG calls a balance of size, performance, and accessibility.
