NEWS – On December 2, 2025, Samsung Electronics officially announced the Galaxy Z TriFold, marking the company’s entry into the multi-folding smartphone category. This tri-fold device features a 10-inch main display that folds twice into a pocketable form measuring just 3.9mm at its thinnest point when unfolded.

10-Inch Main Display With 2600-Nit Cover Screen
Samsung’s largest foldable phone screen arrives with the Galaxy Z TriFold. The 10-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display operates at 2160 x 1584 resolution with 269 ppi pixel density, while brightness reaches 1600 nits peak with 120Hz adaptive refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz.
When folded, the Galaxy Z TriFold cover screen measures 6.5 inches with FHD+ resolution at 2520 x 1080 pixels in a 21:9 aspect ratio. Peak brightness on the outer display reaches 2600 nits with the same 120Hz adaptive refresh rate as the main screen. Both panels feature Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology with 100 percent Mobile Color Volume in DCI-P3 color range, which Samsung says prevents washed-out images regardless of brightness level.
Vision Booster technology automatically optimizes color and contrast across varying lighting conditions on the Galaxy Z TriFold. Samsung also claims minimized creasing on the display surface to reduce visual interruption during content viewing, making the 10-inch screen ideal for watching YouTube videos while reading comments side-by-side.
Dual Armor FlexHinge With Inward-Folding Design
Two differently sized Armor FlexHinge mechanisms power the Galaxy Z TriFold multi-folding design. The dual-rail hinge structure enables three screen panels to fold with minimal gap, contributing to the slim profile. Samsung engineered the Galaxy Z TriFold with an inward-folding design that protects the main display when closed.
According to Samsung, the Galaxy Z TriFold hinges underwent advanced automated assembly and 3D laser scanning to verify surface quality. The folding mechanism includes an auto-alarm feature that alerts users of incorrect folding through on-screen alerts and vibrations.
Durability testing included a 200,000-cycle multi-folding test on the Galaxy Z TriFold main display, which Samsung equates to folding approximately 100 times daily for five years. A reinforced overcoat added to a shock-absorbing display layer improves resistance across both fold points.
Premium Materials and Quality Control
Premium materials define the Galaxy Z TriFold exterior: titanium hinge housing, Advanced Armor Aluminum frame, and Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 on the front cover. The back panel uses ceramic-glass fiber-reinforced polymer construction, while the frame prevents screen panels from making contact when closed.
Every Galaxy Z TriFold unit undergoes strict quality inspection before leaving the factory. High-speed CT scanning of the flexible printed circuit board verifies correct manufacturing according to design specifications, ensuring accuracy and reliability before bonding with display components. Laser scanning confirms all internal components are mounted precisely at their intended height.
Water resistance on the Galaxy Z TriFold carries an IP48 rating for submersion up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes, though Samsung notes the device is not advised for beach or pool use and is not dust or sand resistant.
200MP Camera System With 30x Space Zoom
A 200MP wide-angle main sensor headlines the Galaxy Z TriFold camera system, featuring Quad Pixel autofocus, optical image stabilization, F1.7 aperture, and 85-degree field of view. Samsung’s Adaptive Pixel Sensor enables 2x optical quality zoom from the primary shooter.
Supporting the Galaxy Z TriFold main sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide camera provides 120-degree field of view with F2.2 aperture and 1.4μm pixel size. The 10MP telephoto lens delivers 3x optical zoom and up to 30x Space Zoom using AI Super Resolution technology, with phase detection autofocus, optical image stabilization, and 36-degree field of view.
Front-facing cameras appear on both Galaxy Z TriFold screens: 10MP sensors on the cover and main displays. The cover screen camera offers 85-degree field of view while the main screen camera provides 100-degree field of view for wider group shots.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Powers Samsung’s Largest Foldable Battery
At the heart of the Galaxy Z TriFold sits the customized Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy built on 3nm process technology. Memory configuration includes 16GB RAM paired with either 512GB or 1TB internal storage options. MicroSD expansion is not supported on the Galaxy Z TriFold.
Galaxy Z TriFold battery capacity reaches 5,600mAh typical (5,437mAh rated) using a three-cell system distributed across the device’s three panels. Samsung says this configuration delivers balanced power delivery throughout the form factor. Charging supports 45W Super-Fast Charging 2.0 that reaches 50 percent capacity in approximately 30 minutes with compatible accessories. Wireless charging operates at 15W through Fast Wireless Charging 2.0, and Wireless PowerShare enables charging compatible Samsung phones, earbuds, and smartwatches.
Wi-Fi 7 Connectivity and Dual SIM Support
Galaxy Z TriFold connectivity options include 5G, LTE, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4. Wi-Fi 7 support requires an optimal connection and compatible router. The Galaxy Z TriFold supports up to two Nano SIM cards plus Multi eSIM for flexible carrier options.
The Galaxy Z TriFold sensor array includes a side-mounted capacitive fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, barometer, gyro sensor, geomagnetic sensor, hall sensor, proximity sensor, and light sensor.
Samsung Knox Vault Security
Samsung Knox with Knox Vault provides enterprise-grade security for the Galaxy Z TriFold. Knox Vault isolates sensitive data including passwords, biometrics, and encryption keys in a secure processor separate from the main chipset, keeping Galaxy Z TriFold user data protected.
Standalone DeX Mode and Multi-Window Productivity
Android 16 and One UI 8 ship on the Galaxy Z TriFold at launch. Samsung claims the Galaxy Z TriFold becomes the first mobile phone to support standalone DeX mode, enabling a full desktop-style working environment directly on the 10-inch display without external accessories.
When unfolded, the Galaxy Z TriFold screen performs similarly to three 6.5-inch smartphones across the 10-inch display, giving users significantly more room to multitask. DeX mode provides access to up to four workspaces running five apps simultaneously in each. Extended Mode connects to an external monitor for dual-screen productivity with drag-and-drop functionality between displays.
Samsung provides a practical Galaxy Z TriFold example: an architect drafting design plans can operate three applications simultaneously to review blueprints, write a proposal, and calculate measurements in a single multi-window workspace. Incoming calls can be answered without disrupting the layout, and the Taskbar instantly resurfaces recently used apps with a single tap.
Multi-window productivity on the Galaxy Z TriFold supports three portrait-orientation apps running side-by-side across the 10-inch display. Bluetooth mouse and keyboard connections enable traditional desktop workflows, while native apps including My Files and Samsung Health received large-screen optimizations.
Galaxy AI and Gemini Live Integration
Galaxy AI capabilities run throughout the Galaxy Z TriFold user experience. Photo Assist features including Generative Edit and Sketch to Image scale across the large display, allowing side-by-side comparison of before and after edits. Browsing Assist provides instant summaries and translations within Samsung Internet browser on the Galaxy Z TriFold.
Gemini Live on the Galaxy Z TriFold supports multimodal AI that Samsung says understands visual, audio, and contextual inputs simultaneously. Screen sharing and camera sharing with Gemini Live enable real-time assistance and insights. Samsung provided an example of showing Gemini a room, shopping website, and paint swatches to receive design recommendations.
Galaxy Z TriFold purchasers receive six months of Google AI Pro, which includes Veo3-powered video generation features in the Gemini app plus 2TB cloud storage. After the trial period, Google One charges $19.99 per month.
December 12 Korea Launch, US and Global Markets to Follow
Korea receives the Galaxy Z TriFold first on December 12, 2025. Additional launch markets include China, Taiwan, Singapore, UAE, and United States, with Galaxy Z TriFold availability following the Korea launch. The device launches in Crafted Black.
