Design and features

The Vosteed Kroc is a manual, front flipper pocketknife with a sheepsfoot blade. I haven’t had a pocketknife with a sheepsfoot blade before, so I was entering new territory reviewing this one. The body of the pocketknife is comprised of G10, which is a material made of fiberglass fabric and resin. It’s lightweight and very durable.

The locking mechanism on this pocketknife is also different than any pocketknife I’ve used before. Instead of the lock being on the front of the knife, it’s recessed in the back and activated with a button on the handle. One of the immediate benefits I see to this is that you don’t have to put your thumb in the path of the closing blade when you unlock and close it. You can see that internal locking mechanism on the inside here.

The pocket clip can be swapped to either side to fit both left and right handers.

Performance

True to other Vosteed pocketknives I’ve reviewed, the blade is very sharp and holds an edge exceptionally well. The steel is 14C28N, which is well known for its abilities in knives.

I’ve been using this knife for a few weeks now and it has held up great. I actually really like the sheepsfoot blade, despite my initial reservations. It also has a stonewash finish that has held up really well to wear and cleans up well too.

Cutting through cardboard and wood is great and I think that larger blade surface area gives more control when applying pressure.

The balance is great.

Final thoughts

I really like this pocketknife. The balance is great and the overall design and feel are fantastic. I don’t have any reservations about using it and will definitely keep it in my EDC rotations. I highly recommend. The Vosteed knives I’ve seen have all been very solid and this one is no different.

What I like about the Vosteed Kroc Pocketknife

  • Sheepsfoot blade is very sharp and durable
  • Knife body is light and grips very well
  • Good balance
  • Price point is pretty good for a solid pocket knife, in my opinion

What needs to be improved?

  • Nothing so far
