Design and features
I thought I was only getting a desk fan, and was ecstatic when I saw the neck fan also.
The desk fan is the perfect size. Seriously. The perfect size. It is less than nine inches tall, and only about 6.5 inches wide. It is really lightweight and adorable to boot! The best part of this fan is that it runs on USB-C. It can run off your laptop’s power, a battery charger, or wall adapter. It doesn’t have any battery built in, which would make this fan pretty much perfect.
The air flow of this little machine is awesome. I can leave it on level one and be satisfied. However, there are four levels, and each one only gets better. Ranvoo used a seven blade design instead of the typical three that most desk fans use. Because of the blade design, the airflow is wider and reaches farther.
This fan is whisper quiet. Almost too quiet. I enjoy some white noise, but even on level four, I don’t feel like I am sitting next to the jet engine that I am used to from other fans. It has all the air, and not the sound. There are little rubber nubs along the bottom as well that reduce the amount of vibration to keep noise levels down.
The display is so sleek. All that shows up on the face of the fan is the power level, and a very small word saying the strength. I would totally be able to sleep with this fan on, and not have to cover any lights with tape because it was too bright. There is more coverage around the blades to keep tiny fingers out, but not enough to make it child-proof. Just be careful with your fingers and hair.
My last neck fan was able to fold into thirds, and stored away easily. So I was a little worried about the design of this neck fan. I have to say I like it even more than the last one that I had! It has very soft, pliable material that feels cool along your neck. It bends and molds to whatever tightness you choose. I feel like the fit is the best part about this fan though.
While it does have three different speeds, there is no indicator telling you what level it is on, or how much battery is left. The amount of airflow is fairly decent, but I feel like level one is pretty low, and not much air can be felt. Not that it is a huge deal, but it does mean that the battery life is going to deplete faster. The battery is only 4000mAh, but can last up to 12 hours on low. I figure that I won’t be wearing that fan for more than an hour or two at a time anyway, so it works well with the storage it has. One of the downfalls of having to turn up the power to feel the air more is that the ability to hear what is happening around you also goes down. If I am totally focused and ignoring everything around me, this actually works great for that purpose. ha!
There is a light next to the power button that will blink when the fan is being turned on, and again with each power level adjustment. There isn’t any indicator of battery life. When you are charging the fan, the light blinks until the battery is full and then it stays solid.
All in all, I really like the neck fan. I was using it the other day while making Sunday dinner. It was nice to be able to have a constant air source, but also have my hands free to do anything else that I needed.
Final thoughts
I am so impressed with this desk fan. I love the smallness and how lightweight it is, without sacrificing any of the functionality. It has amazing airflow, and is actually quiet. The neck fan is nice and I enjoy the feel of the material that they use to make it. However, it feels lacking in the amount of air that is actually being blown, and it makes it harder to hear conversations with the noise so close to your ears.
What I like about the Ranvoo desk and neck fans
- Small and lightweight
- USB-C powered
- Lots of airflow with desk fan
- Simplistic
- Multiple colors available
- Neck fan is very soft to the touch
- Neck fan easy to adjust around neck
- Also charges with USB-C
- Multiple colors available
What needs to be improved?
- Neck fan- not enough air flow at low speeds
- Neck fan- loud enough to be a problem for conversations when on a higher speed
- Needs a battery indicator
- Wish the desk fan had some battery backup
