REVIEW – I’ve never been a phone grip/PopSocket person. But I was curious enough to accept the offer to try the ohsnap! SNAP 4 LUXE phone grip when the offer came in. Let’s see if it has converted me.
What is it?
The ohsnap! SNAP 4 LUXE is a MagSafe-compatible phone grip design for iPhones but also able to be used with Android phones using the included “converter” kit.

Design and features
The ohsnap! SNAP 4 LUXE MagSafe phone grip has two parts. The outer ring/trim and the pop-up grip.
The ohsnap! SNAP 4 LUXE is available in 10 different trim colors (the outer aluminum ring).
The back of the SNAP 4 LUXE is magnetic. If you have an iPhone with MagSafe, you can stick the grip to the back of your phone and start using it as is. This is more of a temporary install, though. For a more secure install, you can remove the protective cover on the back and stick it to the back of your phone or phone case using the nano-adhesive.
Here’s the Hot Orange version of the ohsnap! SNAP 4 LUXE MagSafe phone grip on the back of my iPhone 15 Pro Max. I didn’t want to use the adhesive, so it’s sticking to the back of my phone just with the MagSafe magnet which feels secure enough for everyday use.
This grip has a thickness of 2.5mm which is actually thinner than the camera bumps on the back of my iPhone.
If you plan to use your phone and Snap 4 on a MagSafe charger or mounted to a metal surface like your refrigerator, you’ll want to use the nano-adhesive feature to keep the Snap 4 firmly attached to your phone when you remove it from a charger or mount.
To use the grip, you can open it while the phone is in your hand by sliding down over the locating nub on the edge. You can also press the edge of the grip to pop it up.
From there you can use it like a typical phone grip, between two fingers.
Hooked to the top of your hand, which ohsnap calls “shelving” it.
Or you can even grip it with your finger through the hinge.
I prefer the traditional between the fingers style grip as it feels the most secure and comfortable to me.
Other features
The ohsnap! SNAP 4 LUXE is more than just a phone grip, It can be used as a mount. Check out the picture above. I have my iPhone stuck to my homemade steel bulletin board. You can stick it on a fridge, metal file cabinet, etc.
It has pass through wireless charging. In the image above, I have my iPhone with the ohsnap! SNAP 4 LUXE charging through the MagSafe charger connected to my balolo Cockpit modular monitor stand.
Last, but not least, you can use the Snap 4 LUXE as a stand for your phone. If you open the grip all the way, it will click into a little tab at the bottom (see above).
Then you can prop up the phone in landscape orientation for more comfortable video watching. It’s also possible to use the stand in portrait mode, but the angle is very shallow and is not really all that useful in my opinion.

Final thoughts
The ohsnap! SNAP 4 LUXE is one of the thinnest phone grips that I’ve tried so far. It looks premium and has some extra features (pass-through charging, stand, magnetic mount) that make it stand out from the crowd. Although I don’t plan to use the SNAP 4 every day, I will keep it in my EDC bag for those times when I’m at restaurant (by myself) and want a minimal stand to watch videos while I eat, or as a grip while shopping. I will say that it’s my favorite minimalist phone grip to date.
