REVIEW – The last dog bed that our son’s dog used while visiting our house did not last long. Between the constant in-and-out, and nibbling on treats in bed, it got trashed pretty quickly. Will the White Duck Dog Bed fair any better? Warning: cute dog pics included!

What is it?

The White Duck Dog Bed is described as a “comfortable, rugged, reliable, and machine-washable” dog bed for indoor and outdoor use.

What’s included?

  • Dog bed (Cover already installed)

Design and features

Our son and his girlfriend have a rescue dog named Cleo that is a German Shepherd, husky and terrier mix that weighs about 60 pounds.  We have a bed for Cleo to lay on whenever she comes visits. But after a few months of the normal wear and tear of going in and out of the bed as well as chewing on treats (and sometimes the bed cover), the bed is pretty ratted and showing a lot of wear. For the most part, it’s still somewhat useable, but with a few pockets of filling popping out, it’s not going to last much longer before it becomes a complete mess.

Enter in the White Duck Dog Bed. I wanted to review this bed because of the description of the material and ruggedness, and White Duck is a name associated with quality outdoor products too. I requested the large size in the tan color. Cleo has longer legs and I should have ordered the XL to give her some extra space, but she fits fine on it. The material of the cover is a little stiff and seems of heavier weight than a traditional fabric cover. I believe it will soften over time, but I would still expect for the thickness to remain.

For the dog photos in this review, I had the bed in the grass in our side yard. The grass wasn’t wet, but a quick shake and brush got all the loose grass and leaves off the bed. The cover material is also a little slick and a wipe from a damp sponge would be all that’s needed for simple clean ups. The cover zips off to be machine washable. I can see this bed being a great option for camping or at the beach.

When Cleo lays on the White Duck Dog Bed, I do notice that the filler compresses down a noticeable amount. It’s not that Cleo is suddenly “on the ground” but something to keep in mind for heavier dogs.

We also have a new puppy named Milo who is about 10 weeks old and almost 3 pounds. He has way more room!

What I like about the White Duck Dog Bed

  • Removable cover for washing and cleaning
  • Water repellent

What needs to be improved?

  • More filling to offset the compression for heavier dogs

Final thoughts

We will primary use the White Duck Dog Bed indoors when our son’s dog Cleo is visiting. I think I should’ve order the XL for Cleo. She fits on the larger, but not a whole lot of extra room. For comparison, our puppy Milo has an enormous amount of room lol. For comparison, Cleo is about 60lbs and Milo is almost 3lbs.

The cover material seems more durable that traditional softer fabrics, however I do wish there was more filling included. It does seem to compress quite a bit, but no complaints from either dog – they seem to enjoy laying on the bed.

Although we will be using the White Duck Dog Bed primarily indoors, I can absolutely see the benefit for outdoor use. I would recommend this bed to friends and family looking for a camp bed for their dog.
