ASUS-Chromebox

Love your Chromebook as much as I do? Now there’s another device to use the super fast and browser based Chrome OS. ASUS has released a new Chromebox model, the M004U.   This nifty looking Chromebox has 4 USB 3.0 ports, Gigabit ethernet port, 802.11 b/g/n dual-band wireless, HDMI output, Displayport output, combo micrphone and headphone jack, as well as a 2 in 1 card reader with Kinsington lock. (Monitor, keyboard and mouse are not included.) It runs the latest Chrome OS (which automatically updates online) so it’s super easy to access all of your Google Drive content (you get 100GB included), be able to stream tons of online video and visit your favorite websites.  You can pick the ASUS M004U online through Amazon, B&H, Newegg, TigerDirect, and Micro Center starting at $179.

  2. The Chromebox is ideal for scenarios like call centers. Like the Chromebook, Chromeboxes start up fast and are easy to manage and use.

There are also solutions that make Chromeboxes more relevant to the enterprise by allowing users to access Windows and corporate applications. Ericom’s AccessNow HTML5 RDP solution enables Chromebox users to connect to any RDP host, including virtual desktops and Terminal Server, and run their Windows applications and desktops in the Chrome browser tab.

There’s nothing to install on the Chromebox, as AccessNow runs within the Chrome browser, which reduces hassles for IT. The user simply connects to the URL given him by the IT admin, logs in and then connects to their applications or virtual desktop.
