A pair of training shoes can turn a work backpack into a messy compromise. KNKG’s APEX puts them in their own internal compartment, alongside dedicated laptop storage, two bottle pockets and an expandable main load. The choice is how much bag you want to carry between the gym and everything else.

The APEX comes in Medium and Large sizes, with listed US prices of $200 and $240. Both use a 1680D ballistic nylon body, YKK Vislon zippers and oversized external pockets. Large hook-and-loop panels make patches part of the design rather than an afterthought.

Start with the load you actually carry

KNKG labels the Medium as 35L, but that is its expanded capacity. It starts at 30L. The Large follows the same pattern, starting at 40L and expanding to 45L. Each gains five liters when expanded; the Large has ten liters more room at either setting.

If your daily kit is shoes, a change of clothes and a laptop, start by comparing how much space they need. Buying the larger version for occasional extra gear also means carrying its deeper shape on ordinary days.

Both bags are listed at 45 centimeters high and 32 centimeters wide. The Medium is 22 centimeters deep before expansion and 25 centimeters afterward. The Large starts at 28 centimeters deep and reaches 32 centimeters expanded. The extra capacity comes with more depth, rather than a taller backpack.

For a gym-to-office routine, the Medium is the first size to measure against your usual load. The Large makes more sense when bulky clothing or training equipment is a regular part of that load. Neither size gets a blanket airline-fit promise; compare the packed dimensions with your carrier’s allowance.

Shoes, bottles and a laptop have their own spaces

KNKG specifies an internal shoe compartment for footwear up to size 15 and a padded sleeve for laptops up to 16 inches in both sizes. Those are manufacturer fit specifications, so check your particular laptop’s dimensions and shoe shape before relying on the headline sizes.

The bottle pockets sit outside the main compartment. External compression straps can also secure a lifting belt, while a luggage pass-through lets the backpack sit over a suitcase handle. A removable chest strap is included.

The Large adds a flat-lay opening compartment alongside top access. That gives readers who prefer laying gear out another way to pack. A shoe divider and additional access do different jobs: one keeps footwear apart from the rest of the load, while the other changes how you reach it.

A gym bag with room for your own patches

The broad hook-and-loop panels are one of the APEX’s most visible features. They let you arrange and swap gym, club or personal patches without committing to one permanent design. The product photographs show how prominent those panels are, even before you add anything.

At these prices, the useful question is whether you need the combination of shoe separation, laptop storage and expansion in a single backpack. Someone carrying only a laptop and a light change of clothes has less reason to choose such a substantial gym-focused bag.

Lower-priced alternative: The MATEIN 40L Travel Backpack in Black, X-Large is $27.19 on Amazon, $212.81 less than the $240 APEX Large before tax and shipping. It pairs separate shoe storage with a padded laptop compartment, but uses polyester rather than ballistic nylon, lists a smaller size 10–12 shoe compartment and has one bottle pocket rather than two. Its listed 40L capacity matches the APEX Large’s standard capacity, not its expanded 45L. Check out the MATEIN on Amazon.
