REVIEW – One would think that by now, I have satisfied my craving for wireless mic systems. However, this cannot be further from the truth. I am always looking for something newer and better and lately, I have been looking for the perfect wireless mic system with great wireless range so that I can set up and attend meetings using my Meta Quest 3 VR headset and the immersed app. Since I want to be away from the host PC, the wireless range is a critical requirement. For the record, I find that using a wireless mic system instead of the built-in mic on the headset produces better-quality audio. So now I need a system that can handle everything I need, including the extended range. Enter the Saramonic Ultra Wireless Mic System.

The Transmitter has the mic and port for the Lavalier mic on the top. On the bottom, are connector pins for charging, and on the sides are the control buttons and the USB-C port. The Receiver is a simple design with a LED screen on top along with a control knob. On the sides are the antenna and audio ports, and on the bottom are the connector pins, USB-C port, and USB-C or Lightning dongle port.
Performance
The Saramonic Ultra Wireless Microphone System offers versatile connectivity with USB-C and Lighting dongles that allow you to connect to cameras, IOS, and Android smartphones and computers. This makes it an excellent choice for content creators and professionals. It features 32-bit float onboard recording, a fantastic 300-meter range that allows me to move around my home without disconnecting from audio. Just in case of a mishap this system features IPX5 waterproof protection.
The major weakness I am encountering is the battery life, which is rated at 6 hours. I use this system with a PC for the remote meetings I attend via my Meta Quest 3 VR headset.
I need the batteries to last at least 8 to 9 hours. I’ve been interrupted during meetings multiple times. For the days when I have back-to-back meetings scheduled for the entire day, I cannot risk using this system despite its pristine audio and easy connectivity. There is also an app that allows tweaking and customization, but I never it. Here are some screenshots from the app:

Overall, the Saramonic Ultra Mic system is a great addition to my gear collection. Each component is well-built, and the feature on the Receivers with the option to add the included Lavalier mics is fantastic. In addition, the external antenna option is the first of the kind I have seen on this type of mic system and a great feature for extending the range between the transmitter and receiver. The audio quality is pristine and the onboard recording capability is a nice option for safeguarding recordings or recording on the go. The charging case is nice and allows you to charge on the go. I wish the individual components could hold more charge for longer periods of use before they need to be recharged. Otherwise, this is another great product from Sasramonic.

Final thoughts
The Saramonic Ultra Wireless Mic System works well on my IOS and Android smartphones, and I love that it works with my PC. I have been using it for meetings that I attend daily using Immersed VR on my Meta Quest headset. Just as I experienced with previous Saramonic mics that I reviewed, the audio quality is great and the versatility is there to match. Other than the shortcoming of the battery life of the Receiver for my needs, this is another great mic system from Saramonic.
