Design and features

Let’s talk about my favorite part first; the keycaps. You get a 114 keycap set that should cover almost any keyboard you may be rocking at home. They’re PBT, meaning they should last a long time without developing the dreaded shine that ABS can produce.

They’re well made in that they have sufficiently thick walls so they don’t feel cheap or flex a ton when squeezed. Is it weird that I squeeze my caps before installing them? Anyway, the thickness also helps produce a better sound when typing.

The artwork is printed onto the caps using dye-sublimation so you don’t get as crisp details as you would with double shot caps, but I think The Kapco did a great job here. I think the legends are clean and the artwork is clear.

The keycaps even have a slight texture to them making them feel really good to use. It’s a tactile thing which may not matter to you, but man, they feel really good to me. Even my youngest who commandeered the set mentioned he liked it.

The desk mat and mouse pad are well made with crisp artwork and brightly colored, although my photography skills don’t really do them justice.

To get a more color-accurate look, check out The Kapco website. The thing that most surprised me was the mousepad. I haven’t used a small mousepad like that in ages and never one with a built-in wristrest. The wristrest is gel-filled, is the perfect height for me, and is extremely comfortable. And the desk mat has my new motto emblazoned on it, “Not the best, but still good”.

Final thoughts

I know this set isn’t for everyone but I enjoy it. The whole set is well-made and looks great. The Kapco has done a great job with attention to detail. The quality of their keycaps gets better and better. They have other Peanuts designs as well. If you want more than just Charlie Brown and yes, they have Charlie Brown’s dog, whats-his-name. C’mon add a little color and fun to your desktop. Go check out The Kapco. If you’re a keyboard nerd like me, you’ll love it.
