NEWS—Grim Workshop, known for its cool metal EDC wallet tools, is back with something a little different but no less cool. Skill Cards are currently seeking funding on Kickstarter.
What is it?
The Grim Workshop Skill Cards look like a traditional set of playing cards that come in their own plastic storage cases. But you don’t play games like poker or go fish with these cards. Instead, you learn cool like skills like how to make a fire in the woods or how to make a hand reel to catch fish.
Why do I like it?
I like the Grim Workshop Skill Cards because they remind me of the Book of Knowledge books that were on the bookshelves at home when I was growing up. These encyclopedia-sized hard-back books had all sorts of neat articles about how to carve a whistle out of a twig, how to tie knots, and more. I loved flipping through these books when I was very young, and I can see kids and adults finding the Skill Cards just as interesting.
There are nine different decks covering topics such as first aid, tying knots, making shelters, and more (check out their Kickstarter page for details about each deck). Each deck includes 54 water-resistant cards. Bonus – they are made in the USA.
Where can I find more info?
The Grim Workshop Skill Cards campaign ends on 11/18/24 and they have already met their funding goal of $5,000. You can pre-order a deck of Grim Workshop Skill Cards starting at $20. After the Grim Workshop Skill Cards campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in December 2024 (in time for the holidays). Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.
