Assembly, Installation, Setup
The Engwe LE 20 Cargo eBike arrives mostly assembled in a big box. You only need to attach the handlebar, front wheel, pedals, front light, and fender. All the tools you need are included and the assembly process is easy. The following photos provide some snapshots from my assembly process. Once the assembly was completed, I charged the bike overnight to ensure it was fully charged and ready for testing.
Performance
The Engwe LE 20 Cargo eBike is built incredibly well, and riding the bike feels smooth and comfortable. The ride is stable and the seat is comfortable. The bike feels solid. The front and back lights are very bright and provide great light for visibility even in daylight.
The adjustable handlebar riser is a nice design feature that allows for adjustment to accommodate a wide range of heights and comfort.
Engwe sent me the version that includes 2 batteries. The first battery is in the center of the frame and is straightforward to access. The second battery is under the seat. For easy access, Engwe designed the seat with a lever that allows it to flip forward for easy access to the battery.
The display is colorful, bright, and well laid out. It is visible in every light condition I have tested. I like that it shows the charge level of both batteries and it does so in percentage. It also provides all of the usual information that almost all e-bikes offer.
The included padded seat on the carrier is also nice:
Overall, this is another great cargo bike that is part of what seems to be a push by several ebike manufacturers to build a versatile bike that the average rider/family member can use for leisure or for the person needing to move cargo around quickly for business. This bike has more than enough power and battery life for all-day use, and it is strong so it can carry a person and cargo. The brakes work well and the ability to adjust the seat and handlebar make it a fit for many people.
Here is a video with some of my thoughts about this Engwe LE 20 Cargo eBike:
Of course, I cannot end the review without taking it for a ride:
What I like about the Engwe LE 20 Cargo eBike
- It is built like a tank
- The ride is smooth and comfortable
- It is capable of carrying various types of cargo
- It has a nice LED color display
- The height of the handlebar is adjustable and the handlebar support is foldable
What needs to be improved?
- It just needs a better bell or maybe a horn
Final thoughts
Once again Engwe has another winner with this Engwe LE 20 Cargo eBike. It is built like a tank, rides smoothly, and is comfortable. The 2 batteries provide for long distances between charges and the ability to carry another person or cargo makes it versatile for the average rider or a delivery person. This is another well-done design and product from Engwe.

Good write up sir and I only found one thing missing, the weight. I looked back through the write up and couldn’t find it, so I looked it up and it’s 81lbs. A vital spec for folks concerned about having to load it for transport. I have an ebike with similar design and features and it’s 109lbs so kudos to Engwe on the weight, AND the capacity is a lot higher than mine as well. Again, great write up, very well covered. All we don’t know here is long term reliability. Now I have an alternate brand to consider….
Hi Robert,
Thank you for your support and kind words. If you look at the section of the review that lists the “Tech Specs”, you will see the weight.
