Design and features
Right from the start, I immediately noticed the polish to the design of this electric scooter. It’s not chunky at all and the curves flow together well.
The handlebars incorporate turn signal lights in and are seamless with the handles on either side. The electronic display is easy to see in sunlight and you don’t have to guess about what you’re seeing.
Assembly, Setup
Assembly of the Segway Ninebot eKickScooter E2 Pro was very simple. There are only 4 little bolts and nuts on the stem of the handlebars that need to be tightened down. That’s it for assembly.
The initial charge took about an hour or so since it came with a partial charge.
The Ninebot app’s setup was pretty slick. The instructions included a nice QR code that took me straight to the app.
Once installed and connected via Bluetooth, stats and new options showed quickly.
After initial setup, additional firmware updates for the scooter also became available and quickly updated over Bluetooth.
Performance
The Segway Ninebot eKickScooter E2 Pro has to be one of the smoothest riding electric scooters I’ve ever used. There are three different speed settings; Eco, Standard, and Sport. Eco mode runs a little over 9 miles per hour, which isn’t bad compared to some of the other Eco modes I’ve seen. The Eco modes on some scooters is barely a walking speed and you feel like you’re about to tip over at any moment. Standard mode runs at a decent 12.4 miles per hour. Sport mode clocks in at about 15.5 miles per hour, which is a pretty quick and fun to ride without getting ridiculous.
We rode around the neighborhood on the street, sidewalks, and nearby paths that went from very smooth to very rough surfaces. The Ninebot held up great on all of them. It doesn’t have built in shocks, but between the 10 inch wheels and whatever else they used to build the scooter it didn’t seem to matter that much.
Over the course of several rides battery life appears to be consistent with their specs. No overheating issues, consumption was even, and even with an adult load it still held up consistently.
What I like about the Segway Ninebot eKickScooter E2 Pro
- High quality build with great design
- One of the smoothest riding scooters I’ve used. The acceleration and braking on this scooter are excellent.
- App and firmware support. I’ve received several updates already for the scooter over the app and installation was easy and quick. It’s nice to see that they’re continuing to improve these models
What needs to be improved?
- Nothing.
Final thoughts
I think that the Segway Ninebot eKickScooter E2 Pro definitely lives up to the Segway hype. It’s well designed and just looks good. It’s not a child’s scooter (although they want to ride it too). I could see myself throwing this in the back of the car and riding it around between buildings at work. I definitely recommend this scooter to anyone looking for a good, solidly built scooter from a company with a long history of innovative riding solutions.
