REVIEW – Over the past year, I have reviewed quite a few mini PCs. I have become a big fan of them because many of them offer good computing power in a small and convenient package that can fit into just about every environment and accommodate most needs. So after a while regardless of the manufacturer, they all seem to be the same. If I am looking for something that offers more than the number of ports and expansion capabilities what could there possibly be? As I think about how I interact with my PCs, I am usually sitting at a desk working with all of the accessories plugged in and the only thing that I can think of that can be a pain is the lightning charging cable that is always hanging out of a front USB port so that I can keep my iPhone charged. For an IT and gadget nerd like me, a phone with a dead battery might as well be a house on fire with no water around. But, even as important as this is, I always seem to damage the hanging charging cable one way or another. I actually keep spares so that I am not lost when that happens. I have no clue how the nice 6ft charging cable ends up tangled around the arm of my chair or even worse, underneath a wheel of my chair. Sigh!! Well, I guess I shouldn’t complain because my mini PC offers everything else so what more can I ask for? Enter the ACEMAGIC AM20 AMD Ryzen™ 7 7735H Mini PC with wireless charging built into the top of the case!! Is this for real? I have got to see how this works!! So, let’s go!!.

Performance
The ACEMAGIC AM20 AMD Ryzen™ 7 7735H Mini PC is a powerful computer that handles daily use applications like the MS Office Suite, with ease as well as more demanding applications like Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Audition, and DaVinci Resolve. Daily tasks like internet surfing or multitasking with multiple tabs and applications running simultaneously are no big challenge for this mini PC. Since I am not a gamer, it is hard to rate what the performance would be across the massive variety of games. However, I think this mini PC would hold its own in most challenges. To provide you with some semblance of its performance, I used a couple of testing/benchmark applications. First I used CPUID to confirm some of the specs.
Next, I used Cinebench to perform a benchmark test. As you can see from the screenshot below, this mini PC outperformed a PC with an Intel i9 Processor.
I also performed another Benchmark test with Novabench:
Overall, I really like this mini PC and to date, it is the most powerful that I have tested. This can be ascertained by its performance alone without even examining the specs. The only issue I am keeping an eye on is the wireless charging surface. Without charging any device, the surface is warm, and when charging my iPhone, I did get a heat-related message indicating that charging would resume once the heat had dissipated:
Otherwise, the 2 HDMI ports work great for 2 monitors, and the 2 x 2.5GB ethernet ports performed well when I tested it with the EnGenius Cloud 10 Gigabit ECS5512FP 8-Port PoE++ Switch that I previously reviewed.
What I like
- Nice compact design
- Quite powerful for its size
- The wireless charging surface
- The standard setup process is easy
What I’d change
- The top wireless charging surface probably needs a built-in cooling design
- More built-in USB-C ports especially on the back of the PC
Final thoughts
The ACEMAGIC AM20 AMD Ryzen™ 7 7735H Mini PC is a nice compact and quite powerful and capable mini PC. The wireless charging surface/top is useful but it does get and stay warm once the PC is on. I also wish that there were more built-in USB-C ports. The dual 2.5G ethernet ports are a nice feature considering that faster network speeds are now available not only externally from ISPs but also on network switches for internal network speed. I like this mini PC.
