The phone stand is always the thing you forget to pack. Peak Design’s new charging gear builds the stand into the charger, so there’s one less thing rattling around your backpack.

There are four pieces (a magnetic Kickstand Travel Battery, a 2-in-1 Mobile Charging Station that folds flat, a slim Dual Slim Charger and UltraStrand USB-C cables with clip-on organizers), and prices run from $24.95 for a cable to $99.95 for the battery or the station.

Price: $99.95
Where to Buy: Peak Design

The Dual Slim Charger is the sleeper pick. It’s $64.95, 1.3cm thick, with folding prongs and two USB-C ports sharing 65W, so you can split it 45W/20W for a laptop and a phone, or 30W/30W.

It weighs 81g, and shipping is limited to the US, Canada and Japan for now.

The battery is also a stand

The Kickstand Travel Battery packs 5,000mAh into a 10.5mm body and snaps onto MagSafe phones and cases. Flip out the aluminum stand and your phone sits upright or sideways, which is perfect for a show on a train tray table.

It charges at up to 15W from its own battery and 25W when plugged in, but max-speed passthrough needs a 40W adapter you buy separately.

The catch: it’s still listed as Coming Soon at $99.95. You can’t order it today.

Two phones, one station

The 2-in-1 station holds one phone on a hinged arm and a second phone or earbuds on the pad below. Both pads charge at up to 25W at the same time. And it folds to 16.1 x 6.9 x 1.4cm.

It ships with a 100W cable but no wall plug, and full dual speed needs a 75W or bigger adapter, so Peak’s own 65W charger falls short. That means $99.95 isn’t the whole bill.

Cables that stay coiled

UltraStrand cables come with a removable clip that keeps them tidy in a bag. The 1m 60W cable is $24.95 for charging. The 1m 240W USB4 version is $39.95 and moves data at up to 40Gbps, which is what you want for a fast external SSD.

Two phones sharing one nightstand? Get the $99.95 station and budget for a 75W brick. For one phone and earbuds, Belkin’s $49.99 UltraCharge is the better deal, plug included.
