REVIEW – I love my dog! What I don’t love is all of the fur he leaves around the house.  I reviewed the HomerunPet Grooming vacuum back in December 2023, and I am still using it today to help keep a handle on my dog’s fur.  That vacuum does a great job of pulling the loose fur off my short-haired dog.  My only complaint is that I have to plug it in every time I have to use it.  The Petaboo Airy 150 Pro is a rechargeable, cordless pet grooming vacuum.  Does it work as well as the HomeRunPet vacuum?  Read on to find out.

Design and features

The vacuum is in a ball shape, with the front half housing the dust and hair compartment, and the back housing the motor.  The first picture below is the front.  The clear area is where the fur goes when it is pulled off your pet.  The second picture is the back of the vacuum. At the top of the white area is a grab handle to carry the unit around.

The hose for the vacuum wraps around the main unit between the front and back into a groove.  The white handle at the top is at the end of the hose.  That is where you attach the various components.  The handle has no buttons.  The only buttons are the two on either side of the single LED button above the vacuum hose—the button to the left powers the unit on and off.  The button to the right sets the motor speed.  Below the vacuum hose, you will see a button labeled push.  Pressing that will release the container that holds the stored fur.

On the bottom of the Petaboo Airy 150 Pro, there are four rubber feet.  You can also see the small charging port where you connect the vacuum to the base to charge it.  You can also see where the vacuum hose wraps around the unit.

Here is a picture of the hose unwrapped.  It was long enough for me to groom my smaller dog easily.

The vacuum has three different power settings.  The LED light will glow white, blue, and red at each level.

The charging base comes in two pieces that clip together.

Underneath the base, they provide a path for routing the charging cable.

Next, I have a series of pictures showing the front container removed from the Petaboo Airy 150 Pro vacuum so you can clean it out.  Pressing the single button at the top of the vacuum will cause the front storage container to drop down.

There is a black latch that you release to separate the white top section from the front clear section.

Petaboo 8

Once that is open, you get access to clean out the fur and also clean out the air filter that is built into the unit.

All three brushes come with a push button on the back to help you dislodge any attached fur, allowing it to be sucked into the vacuum.

The clippers and nail grinder have a middle piece with a motor that both attach to first, then the motor attaches to the vacuum hose.

Assembly, Installation, Setup

The setup of the Petaboo Airy 150 Pro pet vacuum was pretty simple after snapping the two pieces of the base together and plugging them in.  It was simply a matter of mounting the vacuum to the base and installing all the various attachments on it.  There are pictures on the base to help you figure out how to attach them.

Performance

This Petaboo Airy 150 Pro vacuum is quieter than the HomeRunPet.  Peanut had no issues at all with the vacuum noise after being groomed regularly with my old vacuum.  However, that quiet sound came at the cost of less suction.   I also found that the brushes they provided did not work as well on my short-furred dog.  The rake brush on this vacuum was not as effective for me as the one on the HomeRunPet.   The dematting brush did not work at all and was made for longer-furred animals.  The brush that was able to get the most fur off my dog was the pin brush.  Even then, I did not accumulate as much fur as I normally would with the HomeRunPet.  Here are a few pictures of my grooming session.  You can see that Peanut does enjoy them!

The clippers did work well to clean up his sanitary areas.  The nail grinder did not seem to do much.  It did not appear to be removing much nail material at all.  There was no way the Nut was going to sit that long for each nail.   Here is a picture of the amount of hair we got from this session.  It was not much at all.  I then got the HomeRunPet vacuum out, and I was able to get a lot more fur off of him.

Final thoughts

I love the portability of the Petaboo Airy 150 Pro vacuum and the fact that it came with a nail grinder attachment.  However, I found the vacuum suction to be rather weak, and it did not remove much fur from my short-haired dog.  This may be a better vacuum for dogs with double coats or longer fur, such as Shelties, Corgis, Retrievers, or Huskies.

What I like about Petaboo Airy 150 Pro

  • Portable
  • Very quiet
  • Came with a nail grinder

What needs to be improved?

  • Needs more suction power.
  • The nail grinder was not very good.
