NEWS – If you’ve been wanting to get ahold of Spotify’s new Car Thing smart music player but didn’t make it on the reservation list, your wait is now over. Starting this week Car Thing is available for purchase to anyone in the US. Featuring touchscreen control, voice control, as well as a large dial and physical buttons, Car Thing puts control of your Spotify account front and center.
Car Thing essentially acts as a second screen for your phone, dedicated to showing you the Spotify interface. It connects to your phone for data, then your phone connects to your car stereo through either Bluetooth or an aux cable.
The package includes a 12V power adapter, USB power cable, and three different magnetic mounts so you can safely mount it and take it with you wherever you go.
Starting this week anyone with a Spotify Premium account can purchase a Car Thing for $90 at carthing.spotify.com. Car Thing is not available for users of Spotify’s free account tier.
