This Indiegogo project caught my eye this past week. The Ring Clock is a relatively high-tech timepiece made of 316L surgical stainless steel. It has an ultrathin LED light array and 6mAh rechargeable lithium polymer battery that enable it to operate. Time is displayed by the three exterior rings rotating independently. Setting the time and charging the battery happens wirelessly via its dock. The battery will last for up to one week of average use and takes up to 2 hrs to charge. While innovative and stylish, the Ring Clock’s operational lifetime is approximately three years due to the life expectancy of its non-replaceable battery, thus making this $200+ tech fashion statement sadly disposable. If funded by the mid-October, the designers hope to create the first and second batches of the Ring Clock in 2014.

Highly tempting… but out of my price-range 🙁
This seems a wonderful idea that simply needs to have the appropriate technology supporting its longevity.
