REVIEW – I often like to drink a protein shake after I workout and getting my full-sized Ninja blender out of the cabinet each day is a little overkill to prepare one smoothie/shake. Being the minimalist that I am, I like appliances that are easy to use, easy to clean, and don’t take a lot of space on the counter. Sure, I could use a shaker bottle, but I prefer something with a little more oomph to mix my protein powders and smoothie mixes. That’s why I was excited to try the BlendJet 2 portable cordless blender when it was offered. Let’s take a look.

What is it?

The BlendJet 2 is a battery-powered rechargeable blender that’s cordless and portable for maximum convenience.

What’s in the box?

The BlendJet is available in a variety of colors. I was sent a green one. Here are the specs:

  • Compact Size: 9” x 3” (230mm x 76mm)
  • Product Weight: 1.34 lb (.61 kg)
  • Jar w/ Measurement Markings: 16 oz (475 mL)
  • 15+ Blends Per 1 Hour Charge
  • Water-resistant USB-C Port
  • 4000 mAh Rechargeable Battery
  • 7.4V Electric Motor Spins 275 Times Per Second
  • 6-Point Stainless Steel Blade

Both the base and bottle are made of plastic. Given that I’m a breast cancer survivor, I’d be happier if the Blendjet bottle was made of glass instead of plastic but the Blendjet website does say that the bottle is BPA free.

The 16 0unce / 450 ml capacity bottle unscrews from the base of the blender for easy cleaning by hand. Note that you should NOT put any part of this product in the dishwasher.

The base houses the 6 bladed blender and also has a silicone gasket to keep your shake or smoothie inside the bottle instead of all over the counter.

To use the Blendjet, make sure the bottle, blades, and cap are clean. Then charge the blender with the included USB-C cable.

LEDs around the power button indicate charging status. In the image above, charging is about 90% completed. The pink/purple section is the uncharged portion and the blue is the charged portion. When the Blendjet is fully charged, the ring will be all blue. A full charge takes about 1.5 hours and you should be able to blend 15 times before needing to recharge.

Blendjet sells its own brand of smoothie mixes in a variety of flavors. They sent me a sampler but I didn’t try any of them because I’m currently on a low carb diet due to my pre-diabetes.

For my smoothie test, I poured some cold almond milk into the bottom of the Blendjet, a teaspoon of chia seed, then a scoop of Perfect Keto collagen powder mix (my review of Perfect Keto products is coming soon!), followed up with some more almond milk and a few ice cubes. Then the cap goes on top and it’s ready to blend.

The Blendjet has two modes: blend and pulse. To blend, you just hold down the power button for a couple of seconds and it will blend for 20 seconds before it shuts off automatically or you press the button to manually stop it. To pulse, you double press the power button and then press and hold the power button repeatedly. There’s also a lock feature for those times when you’re traveling and do not want to accidentally activate the power button.

See it in action

A quick note about the video above: The Blendjet 2 works great but it didn’t fully blend all of the seeds from the raspberries or strawberries or all of the chia seeds. This really doesn’t surprise me. Even my Ninja blender can’t blend those tiny seeds very well. The Blendjet did blend all of the fruit though. There were no chunks, it was smooth and delicious.

Cleaning after use

As mentioned before, you should NOT put the cap or bottle in the dishwasher. To clean it after use, just add a drop of dish soap, fill the bottle with water and blend like you would a smoothie. Then dump out the dirty water, fill with clean, blend again, dump, and let dry.

What I like

  • Easy to use and clean
  • Easy to read capacity markings on bottle
  • Cordless
  • Rechargeable

What I’d change

  • A glass bottle option would be great

Final thoughts

I like products that actually do what they say they are supposed to do, and the Blendjet 2 portable cordless blender is one of those products. It’s well made, easy to use, easy to clean, and it can blend whole frozen fruits like strawberries, raspberries, and it can also blend ice cubes. My Ninja blender is going back in the cabinet.

  2. If I ever go back into the office that would be perfect. I love ice in my smoothies. Shaking up a protein shake by hand is just not the same. The only thing I would possibly change is I wish it worked like my Ninja blender. The blades insert into the top of the cup. You blend, flip the cup back over and unscrew the blades. I see a good chance of me tipping over that smoothie with that tall base of the blender still attached.

    1. Oh gosh Lynn, I honestly don’t see why that can’t be done here? Can’t we just flip it after blending and unscrew the motor part? Btw Julie, is yours still working? The others said theirs lasted only 2 months. This is heartbreaking especially as I live overseas. Thanks for the review!

      1. Ampy, I would not recommend your idea of flipping it over and removing the motor part and drinking from that end. First of all, it takes some effort to unscrew it and you’d probably splash the smoothy all over yourself in the process. 😉 But the biggest issue I have with that idea is that I think the bottle/cup would not be very stable on a flat surface when upsidedown.
Yes, mine is still working. I just used it a day or two ago.

    2. Hi Julie,
I am Ravi. I want to know the length of the blendjet 2 blades and also is it allowed to carry in flights with cabin bags.
Please let me know if you have any idea.
      Thank you.

  3. very nice review! Before I buy any new gadget I want to read what users say. Now comes the main point: how long does the motor work????
I agree with you that a glass jar would be a better option, but I imagine that weighs twice as much and most do not want a heavy and possibly breakable jar.

    1. Are you asking how long each blending session lasts? It’s 20 seconds but you can press the button again for another 20 seconds and so on. If you mean how many blending sessions per battery charge, it’s about 15 times.

  4. no actually how long does the blender motor live – I had smaller blenders and they make it with heavy use a year, then they are trash, I do not like trash 🙂 thus my question. Thank you!

    1. My Blendjet 2 only lasted 40 days. Oh, and the warranty is conveniently only 30 days!? So ya, I wouldn’t expect it to last very long – the company doesn’t.

      1. thanks, I was afraid of that. Sadly most convenient new little helper items do not live very long, as if did not create enough trash….

      2. I got mine too for only 2 MONTHS . And it no longer works ! The Blendjet2 got fully charged to a solid blue , however light kept flashing red and purple , not blending.

The customer service said out of warranty period, advised to try another cord or to purchase a part replacement , like which part to be replaced ? The cord? It is fully charged obviously not a cord problem. The customer service is a joke .

  5. Yeah we’ve had ours not even a month and it’s already flashed red and refused to work 🙁 don’t understand why as we’ve used it within the guidelines…

    1. Per the troubleshooting tips included with my blendjet 2, there are a couple of possibilities to check out.
      1) If the circle is flashing red it could be the jar isn’t properly aligned with the base. Loosen jar from base (as Julie says, that takes a little effort) & screw it back in until arrows on back of jar and base line up. Power button will then flash white.
      2) Solid red means blades could be blocked. With lid and base both firmly screwed on, turn the blender upside down & start blending. Then, while it’s still blending, turn it right-side up again so your ingredients hit the blades at full speed.

    2. Same with mine. Everything aligned and i would charge it up now blades don’t spin and it keeps blinking. I got mine for a discount. I’m assuming faulty.

I only had it for one short semester.

  6. I bought 2 thoufht they were broken, when it went from Blue, white to blinking Purple. No start.

I finally figured out it was on some wrong mode (i.e. pulse…idk). When it showed purple ..i pressed and held down button, the ring lit up pink and purple..then it worked.

Another fix, once it was that the sleeve wasnt screwed on correctly… then turned red.

  7. Help . . . have only powdered up the brand new BlendJet 2 one time. Looks like it is already needing a charge and it hasn’t been used alot of times (only had it for a week). So, now I go to plug the USB-C power cord into the blender and it doesn’t want to insert into the blender??? Any suggestions?

    1. Tricia it really depends on if you used it to blend frozen fruits, ice, or just liquids with powders. The harder the blend, the more juice it takes. I’m not sure what to tell you about the cable. Maybe try another cable?

  8. I bought 2 -Blend Jet 2 a little over a month ago and they both won’t charge. I’m frustrated, I paid over $100 dollars for them and can’t even use them. The warranty only last 30 days so you can’t get your money back or exchange. If I would have known I wouldn’t have bought them. They need to look into this charging problem, I have read a few reviews addressing this same problem. Very disappointed customer. Going to call BBB and file a complaint.

    1. I’m having the same issue. I just bought two and one I can get lined up every time but the other I can’t. Off by an inch no matter what I try so the BlendJet won’t work.

  9. Yeah, same issue here. Had to order an additional cable only after a couple of months. I’ve had charging cables that have lasted years. I have no idea what the problem is. I didn’t twist or bend it, it just stopped working. Also, they don’t provide any way to reach them directly (you would think they would after all the money they’ve made). You have to wait up tp 24 hours for a reply by either phone or email. Byw, they never returned my call. Lousy service and a product you can find cheaper on Amazon. Wish I had bought a good old fashioned blender.

  10. Saw it advertised on TV this morning and intended to order one. Wanted to ask the manufacturer whether the container was glass or plastic, so I clicked on their Contact button…which led nowhere. Googled and found your site. You’ve answered my question, so I guess I will pass. It’s too bad they don’t offer a choice of materials. I’d be willing to pay $20 more for one with a glass container. Thank you for the information.

I’ve had my Blendjet for 2 weeks and now I can’t get the arrows to line up. Sounds like I’m not the only one. Will be asking for a refund.

  12. For all of the reasons above, it really is a piece of junk. Charging system is terrible, arrows do not align, company can’t be reached, etc. mine went in the trash after 3 weeks.

  13. Tried to use mine for a third time and it will not work. The button keeps flashing light purple 3 times and then will not start working. The lines are matching up perfectly and I even tried to charge it again just in case and it still will not work. Super disappointed as I thought this was a good option for the office. I guess I will just continue to use my magic bullet at home and bring in to work.
This was a gift that I cannot return and feel bad for the person who bought it for me.

  14. Great product, WHILE IT STILL WORKED.

Otherwise translated, an EXPENSIVE TOY if you intend to use one daily as I did at work..
