  1. Gadgeteer Comment Policy - Please read before commenting
  2. 1. Both
    2. Currently: the crowdfunding favorites, as I don’t have time to randomly browse the CF sites anymore.
    3. More cats! (really, nothing I can think of at the moment)

  3. Do you come here for news, reviews, or both?
    Almost exclusively reviews.

What is your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer?
The wide variety of content covered. I love gadgets of all shapes and sizes, and The Gadgeteer covers many of my interests.

How would you make The Gadgeteer better?
Nothing…I guess? This question is really hard.

    Also subbed to newsletter.

    1. And apparently am horrible at reading/remembering. (please disregard the above comment if possible – can’t edit/delete it)

      1. Both
      2. Favorite thing – probably the reviews. I enjoy reading about newer products and the team’s experiences with them.
      3. Not sure what could make it better. I like the site. Maybe the ability to edit/delete our comments would be helpful, but admittedly mostly for times like this.

  4. I come here for both news and reviews, but I prefer the reviews.
I like that it has a personal touch. I’ve been coming here for years, and I feel like I know Julie well enough to trust that her reviews are impartial.
I understand you need money to run the site, but I could do without the sponsored posts.

  5. 1. News, mostly. I use Feedly to keep me updated.
    2. Clear, concise, and readable content.
    3. I can’t think of anything, keep up the good work.

  6. 1. both.
    2. I like that the reviews tend to be balanced. Also that Julie can be objective when reviewing both Apple and Android products.
    3. More reviews?

  7. 1) Primarily for reviews and to see what’s new.
    2) Hand’s on reviews of gadgets!
    3) Nothing really jumps out.

  8. Do you come here for news, reviews, or both? Both

What is your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? Pictures from in-depth reviews. For example, with backpacks, it’s very helpful when there’s a picture of the reviewer wearing the backpack, giving a good idea on size, fit, etc.

How would you make The Gadgeteer better? A way to filter the search results or provide an advanced search so that there are different criteria to search for, like date range, price, etc.

  9. Do you come here for news, reviews, or both?
    Both (it’s all good!)

What is your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer?
Genuine, honest user perspective on new and interesting products.

How would you make The Gadgeteer better?
I like seeing all of the new crowd-funded items. It is hard to keep up with all of the various sites.

  10. MICHAEL ODONNELL

Do you come here for news, reviews, or both?
    + Mostly Reviews
What is your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer?
+The in depth reviews. The others tend to be replays of the manufacturers product literature so I ignore them
How would you make The Gadgeteer better?
+ I have less mobile phone interest than most (and there are already a ‘ga-gillion’ web sites with reviews.

  11. Do you come here for news, reviews, or both?
    Mainly reviews

What is your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer?
I never worry that it’s paid for hocking of products

How would you make The Gadgeteer better?
I can’t think of anything that stand out, but maybe more long-term reviews/follow-ups.

  12. Queston 1 cont…(Submitted before I meant to)
I love the easy to understand content and I actually learn!!
I’m not sure what I would change. I enjoy the way it is now.

  13. Do you come here for news, reviews, or both?
    Mostly for reviews…
What is your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer?
Seeing new products I never thought existed
How would you make The Gadgeteer better?
    Not sure

  14. Do you come here for news, reviews, or both? Mostly reviews.
What is your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? Very good reviews, honest and thorough.
How would you make The Gadgeteer better? More contests. 😉

  15. Primarily for the great reviews, but learning about new gadgets is icing on the cake.

Quality of the reviews. Impressive amount of work on the part of the reviewers to provide an honest and complete review.

Don’t fix what ain’t broke…but, can I have some more?

  16. I come primarily for reviews so I can make informed purchases. I like the news, but without reviews, they are not nearly as relevant for me.

I really appreciate that the Gadgeteer offers stories on a wide variety of items, and provides personal insight into how the items function.

I can’t think of any major improvements, unless the news or reviews were clearly labeled as such…unless I’m missing that!

  17. 1. News and reviews
    2. I like learning about new and interesting gadgets
    3. You have already made improvements over the years.

  18. Do you come here for news, reviews, or both?
    Reviews
What is your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer?
    Give aways
How would you make The Gadgeteer better?
    More give aways

  19. Jonathan Rickner

    1. Do you come here for news, reviews, or both? BOTH
    2. What is your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? New tech that I’ve never seen/heard of.
    3. How would you make The Gadgeteer better? Clearly communicate whether or not a piece of news or a review is sponsored by the subject of the article.

  20. Do you come here for news, reviews, or both? Gear Reviews
What is your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? Love reading about odd items I never would have found nor heard of otherwise.
How would you make The Gadgeteer better? Maybe more pictures of items in actual use… ACTION PHOTOS!

  21. 1. After receiving the email I always go to the website to check out more info.
    2. Really enjoy reading about products I would not know about without The Gadgeteer.
    3. It’s great. Always enjoy reading Julie’s entries.

  22. 1. Both
    2. I like the CF reviews as well as the hands-on reviews (not press releases, like some sites).
    3. Maybe some “my favorite things” posts where your staff share some of their tried-and-true gadgets they use, even if they’re not new products?

  23. 1. Both: The reviews primarily, the news second.
    2. The wide variety of gadgets & tech covered.
    3. Better organization or categorization of the type of gadgets. If you have to wade through stuff you aren’t interested in like backpacks, briefcases, etc. to get to electronics, it would make for a better experience. It’s too helter-skelter.

Also, maybe you should separate between news & future or kickstarter/possible product from stuff that’s available for sale now.

ps. apologies for the name of my humble (and neglected/obscure) blog. I had no idea of the existence of your excellent website. If I ever get it off the ground as something more ambitious, it’ll really give me some agita to come up with a wowza domain that hasn’t already been snapped up.

  24. 1. Both
    2. Unbiased reviews. The reviewers are unafraid of pointing out flaws in products.
    3. More reviews of EDC stuff. Knives, flashlights, possibly even survival tech.

  25. 1. Reviews
    2. Variety of items reviewed
    3. Maybe some followups – like how things are working after a few months / years of use.

  26. 1. Reviews
    2. Reviews and Julie’s Gadget List
    3. Roundups of similar devices reviewed to recommend favorites

  27. 1) I enjoy both the news and seeing the new products on the market or soon to be hitting the market.
    2) The reviews are so helpful; especially for the items I’m looking at purchasing giving both pros and cons as well as photos and pricing.
    3) Would like to see a future follow up of the most popular reviews- how did the items do say after using for a year or more….
Have been a faithful newsletter subscriber

  28. 1. I come here for reviews more than news, but the read the news too .
    2. The reviews are from actual use, not just looking at stats and estimating how products will perform.
    3. Tiny picture/headshot of reviewer by their name in each review 😉

  29. 1. Do you come here for news, reviews, or both? I come here for both. Julie and the gang are helpful and what they share is often noteworthy.

    2. What is your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? Sorta experiencing things vicariously, I appreciate the reviews of products that interest me yet that I don’t have the funds to purchase and test out.

    3. How would you make The Gadgeteer better? Not sure if it would be better, per se, yet I think it might be neat/interesting to give “armchair” gadget users/reviewers (or, those who don’t have the ability to commit to being reviewers with The-Gadgeteer) the opportunity to receive samples to provide their own reviews.

  30. 1. Do you come here for news, reviews, or both? Both
    2. What is your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? The product Reviews
    3. How would you make The Gadgeteer better? No Comment

  31. I come here for both the news and the reviews.

My favorite thing about The Gadgeteer is being introduced to products I might have missed otherwise and with a review that lets me decide whether additional research might be warranted.

How would I make The Gadgeteer better? By not changing the format or the frequency. It is just right as it is.

    Already a subscriber.

  32. I come to the site for the reviews, but do end up reading some of the news.
My favorite thing about the site are the reviews about the type of products that I like.
I like The Gadgeteer just the way it is, But I do wish you could find a smartphone that you would love & keep :-)…

  33. 1. Both, but I prefer the reviews.
    2. The wide variety of gadgets covered.
    3. I can’t think of anything.

  34. Do you come here for news, reviews, or both?
A little of both. I prefer the more in-depth reviews (like phone flagships)

What is your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer?
Honest opinions, enjoy more “personal” type content compared to a big site.

How would you make The Gadgeteer better?
The big reviews are great – the reviews of more random items aren’t great. I’d rather less content but higher quality.

  35. 1) I visit to find out any new gadgets at all – so reviews and news both
    2) Best thing is finding new items I’ve never heard about
    3) Happy with it as is – not easy to keep it this fresh after 10+ years

  36. William Haskett

    1. I come for the news and the reviews.
    2. Love the fix I get for my gadgetry obsession, even if I can’t afford all the gadegets!
    3. More contests! 😉

  37. Do you come here for news, reviews, or both? Both
What is your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? True user reviews and follow-up reviews
How would you make The Gadgeteer better? More pictures!

  38. 1. Reviews mostly.
    2. New item reviews and leading edge technology news.
    3. I definitely like the list of articles on the front page, rather than an article with a bunch of headlines under it.

  39. Do you come here for news, reviews, or both?
    Both
What is your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer?
    I love every new products
How would you make The Gadgeteer better?
I keep reading once a week

  40. Why I’m here: I check Gadgeteer 2-3 x / day for news and reviews
Fave thing: I have purchased items of interest based on the thorough reviews done here.
Improvement: Nothing comes to mind. Keep on keepin’ on !

    Registered for newsletter and tweeted:
    https://t.co/P0CP8ZNpyM

  41. 1. I come here for reviews. We have a tech inspired blended family and I love being able to find reviews on items I might purchase for them.
    2. I like that the site is easy to navigate the website and there is always something new for me to learn and new products.
    3. It’s a great site. I wouldn’t change anything but maybe add more smart home items? We just purchased a radon detector / tracker for our home and it was hard to find reviews on this item. We love adding smart home items to family gift baskets at teh holidays.

  42. I come primarily for the review and the read the news while I’m here. I like the objectiveness of your posts the most. My thing I would change would be no Icrap reviews.

  43. 1. Reviews and little bit news
    2. Love reviews written simple language for people like me)
    3. Hmm…. maybe modern design? Current design is ok, but look like 10 years back)

  44. I just come here for both the reviews and news.
Love the quality of reviews. Quick, easy, and simple to read.
I agree with what a previous poster wrote – some follow up reviews would be cool.

  45. Been a longtime fan of The Gadgeteer. Mostly interested in the reviews, but also enjoy the news.

My favorite thing about The Gadgeteer is the depth and relatability of the reviews.

Only way I could think to make The Gadgeteer better would be… more giveaways! 😉

  46. I come here for both, but mainly new product reviews.
I like the reviews the best.
More stories on culture and the impact of tech, I find these interesting.

  47. 1) Mostly reviews, but news too (in nowadays Twitter is the best news source).

    2) I like clear and understand reviews, without tons of graph and charts.

    3) Everything seems ok, but more product photos in reviews will be better.

  48. 1. I come here entirely for the reviews.
    2. My favorite aspect of The Gadgeteer is the relatively down-to-earth tone of the reviews. It’s great when you notice the little things that I would care about most.
    3. At times I get a bit frustrated at the level of proofreading – spelling and word choices really affect the readability of some reviews.

  49. I like to see the reviews, there are actually so many gadgets that I have started a wish list for them!
I think the content is easy to read, understand, you don’t have to be a techie to read and understand the reviews and I appreciate that. Plus the fact that you are impartial and list the positives and negatives is very helpful!
My 16 yr old daughter likes to read the reviews and check out the stuff she likes, she has mentioned that it would be cool to see a section for teens, maybe reviewed by teens, or for the 13-19 age frame.

  50. 1. I enjoy both.
    2. The reviews have become my “go to” before I make a new purchase, or before I get tempted to impulse-buy something that looks “cool”.
    3. On certain products, it might be nice to have 2 reviewers give different opinions/perspectives. I would also be nice to have a list of Categories or a way to Sort reviews. I can use the search function but may miss something interesting if I don’t use the right keyword. I would also like to see more reviews on consumer healthcare products (I’m a physician) and cooking gadgets (I love to cook).

  51. 1. both
    2. in depth reviews on new gadgets
    3. not sure how you could make it better that is always a tough question to answer especially when i think it fine the way it is.
i subscribed to the news letter

  52. Do you come here for news, reviews, or both?
    Reviews!

What is your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer?
    Detailed reviews and great photos.

How would you make The Gadgeteer better?
    Add a night theme.

  53. Reviews of new products for the most part

I like the fact that you folks cover products somewhat off the beaten path of technology

You cover a lot of tech that is financially out of the reach of the average person
