MeFOTO GlobeTrotter Air Travel Tripod
For those of us who pursue the adventures associated with photography and videography, traveling light is a must. We have to take so much gear in anticipation of what we might get the opportunity to shoot, that every little reduction counts.

One way to reduce weight and bulk is by using a compact lightweight tripod that can still get the job done by handling our regularly used equipment including full size DSLR cameras, etc.

The MeFOTO GlobeTrotter Air Travel Tripod is exactly such a tripod. It is sturdy and lightweight since it is made of aluminum alloy. It is capable of supporting up to 17.6 pounds and extending to 68.1 inches. “The telescoping 5-section HyperLock design allows the user to set-up and break-down the tripod with speed and ease by simply turning the rubber foot in one direction to extend the leg and in the opposite direction to lock it at the desired length”. It features an Arca type compatible ball head with an Arca type plate, and it can be adjusted to work as a monopod. The legs can be spread so that the tripod is lowered down to 12 inches, and folded closed it is so compact that it measures only 12.2 inches.

If you would like to purchase the MeFOTO GlobeTrotter Air Travel Tripod, you can head over to B&H Photo Video and purchase one for $159.00.

  2. Thanks for the info, and even though I have not commented previously, I have read all the photography related posts you have posted. As a competent amateur photographer, I find myself looking for new items to try, or to put on my wish list, and I enjoy the reviews.

Is there any chance that these manufacturers would allow you a sample? I’ve actually been considering this tripod, but the info above is what I’ve already found, and would like to know your real life experience with it- if that ever becomes a possibility.

Thanks for the reviews and keep them coming.

    1. Hi John,
I am very pleased to hear that you enjoy reading the photography related posts. If I ever get my hands on this tripod, I will be more than happy to do a complete review.

  3. if it helps…mefoto stands out in each of the price points it inhabits

just be aware that a travel tripod is never going to as stable, fully extended, as a full-sized tripod

i’m getting too old to drag my manfrottos very far but I often carry my travel tripod in or on my pack/bag

shooting from picnic tables and boulders they work a treat

I find several brands will allow you to shoot at ground level..nice for macro work and different perspectives when shooting landscapes

b&h does have a good return policy if a product doesn’t suit you

    1. Hi Craig,

I also have several brands of tripods including professional Manfrotto tripods, and I also get tired of dragging them along. There are several travel tripods on the market, and as I continue to search for the perfect fit, I will continue the discussion here. Thanks for your input.
