Please click through to read the details on the prizes and to submit your entries for a chance to win one of our Gadgeteer 20th birthday giveaway prize packs!

1st Prize Pack

Audioengine B2 wireless speakers

audioengine b2

I reviewed the Audioengine B2 wireless speaker and still use it. In my review, I said:

I hadn’t realized how mediocre the music sounded until I switched to the B2. Now I find that my music sounds so much better. Through this speaker music is full and rich with an excellent bass that isn’t too thumpy, but still easily fills a room.

This is a very nice bookshelf sized speaker that features Bluetooth and aptX.

  1. Gadgeteer Comment Policy - Please read before commenting
  2. I’ve been following The Gadgeteer for about 6 years now
I really like the test runs and reviews of products over the news announcements of new gadgets.
I wish that there were more updates where you went back and revised your review if you’ve been using it for a few months, rather than first impressions where you only use it for a week or 2.

  3. ————-

Can’t seem to get back 20 years but 19 years is here:

    https://web.archive.org/web/19981207030830/http://www.the-gadgeteer.com:80/

    Including

    Gameboy color review
Palm III clear case review … 🙂

    ———-

    1. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer?

I can’t remember. I expect I was here near the beginning when I was a PalmPilot fan.

    2. What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer?

Gadgets! Interesting reviews even of things I’m not that interested in.

    3. If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be?

I could live without the advertisements but in reality scrolling past them is no big deal and I understand why they are there.

Thanks for all the work – Michael

  4. I’ve been following The Gadgeteer and your product reviews since around 1998 when I had a PocketPC and an HPC.

I’ve always enjoyed how I can find reviews of items that I would find useful (and possibly purchase), but would never have found those items otherwise.

Changes – How about a podcast?

  5. Just following up on the “how long question”. I have an email exchange with Julie from May 2000 about the Cool Clip (http://www.mycoolclip.com/) which was some sort of thing for hanging your PalmPilot around your neck. Strangely the company who made it don’t seem to be there anymore 🙂

    Michael

Yes: I keep too much email.

      1. Yes it was great wasn’t it. Mind you the mac syncing software never worked properly. I’ve no idea how long I spent messing with that. I think I bought my first one when my now 25 year old son was a baby and had trouble sleeping so I had something to do in bed with him after we had done lots of books and reading and he was supposed to be going to sleep.

  6. Man, been at least 15 years or more since I have been following this page daily. Favorite thing is the diversity of what you review. I also very much like the layout. Easy to read, simple page… very good. What to change? Actually, nothing. Perfect like it is…

  7. Q: How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer?
A: I’ve been following The Gadgeteer for at least 7 years now.

Q: What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer?
A: I really like the thorough and unbiased reviews from everyone who writes for the site. I particularly like the minimalist wallet reviews since I too am always on the lookout for minimal wallets.

Q: If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be?
A: Sometimes when there’s an updated review, it’s hard to figure out what the update is. Maybe mark the section where the updated review starts?

  8. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer?
    Since at least 2002
What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer?
    The hands-on gadget reviews
If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be?
Fewer video ads on the mobile version

I’ve been a subscriber to the newsletter for many years now.

  9. Twenty years ago I worked evenings in the open computer lab at our local community college, and when things were slow I could web-surf for HOURS – I know I discovered your site really early, certainly no later than 1999 or 2000.

My fave thing about this site is that each reviewer really tries to put the object being reviewed through its paces and use it in the way it would be used out in the wild. This site and only one or two others are the only places where I feel like the reviews cover things that I’d need to know for day-to-day use (and the MANY MANY photos are awesome too).

(what would I change) The sideways scrolling on my phone and tablet throws me EVERY TIME.

Thanks for 20 years, and here’s to 20 more!

MaryB, looking forward to trying your homebrew notebook cover instructions soon!

  10. Congrats on the big 20! I’ve been regularly reading the site for at least 15 years, I think I stumbled across it looking for Palm Pilot reviews and information. My how time flies!

I love the mix of interesting products you cover and the upbeat voice the site has. If I were to change anything I would like to see a more standard pros/cons at the end of the reviews, some reviewers do them differently.

    Keep up the great work!

  11. I’ve been visiting the Gadgeteer for at least 6 years, with almost daily visits for the last 4. My favorite aspect of what the Gadgeteer has to offer is the EDC-related reviews; I pay close attention to everything EDC-related. If I could change one thing about the Gadgeteer, I would like for the crew to add reviews MAC, iOS, Android and Windows. I’m not suggesting in-depth analyses that a technical publication would undertake, but reviews which contain enough information where, if I’m interested, I can research more deeply elsewhere. We all have favorite apps and programs. I’d like to hear what you guys use, why you use those programs and why might I NOT want to use such-and-such app/program.

    Thanks!
    Earl

  12. I have been following The Gadgeteer since way back in the last century!

My favorite thing is just the coolness of seeing all the new items that I might otherwise never encounter, even if I personally don’t need them or can’t use them. But, I have bought gadgets over the years after seeing them first here.

The only thing you all need to watch out for is to be very clear when you are reviewing something and just talking about it. We trust you folks and your recommendations. Keep up the good work!

  13. 1. The first email reference to you I can find in my archive is January 2012, so that’s at least 5.5 years.
    2. Real people reviews that aren’t as biased as many Amazon reviews.
    3. Way too many ads when viewed on in Safari my iPhone

  14. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer? Just over 2 years.
What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? Product reviewers are more realistic than on some hyper-specialized site about a specific type of product . (Headphone snob, Pen snob, etc).
If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be? More giveaways!

    Congrats on 20 years 🙂

  15. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer? At least 15 years, probably more.
What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? The everyday user style of writing reviews.
If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be? More gear diary entries from Julie!

  16. Congrats on 20 years! I don’t remember when I first found your site, but I’ve been coming here regularly for at least 5 years. I like seeing news on new gadgets and trinkets. I’m rarely able to get any of them, but I like to know what new things are hitting the market. Nothing really stands out as something I’d like to see changed. I enjoy coming here to check out new products hitting the market. The pictures are great and the reviews are informative. Keep up the good work

  17. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer?
    – Since about the beginning, I believe. I think we were all into Palm Pilots when I first found The Gadgeterr.
What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer?
    – The variety of the reviews.
If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be?
    – Not a thing. Excellent as is.

  18. I have been viewing The Gadgeteer since 1998 and bought an compaq iPaq Pocket PC in 2000 after reading your reviews. I like that you are a respected site and thus have lots of articles even on the weekends. You inform when there are good deals to be had. What I don’t like is the sensitive side scrolling when using my iPhone. I often lose the article and have to start over. The same on Judie’s site. Thanks for all your hard work and wish you good health.

  19. I found my registration email for The Gadgeteer Bulletin Board forums back in September of 2005 so I’ve been with you for at least a dozen years.

My favorite thing about the site are the honest and detailed real-life reviews of products. It’s disappointing how many “reviews” out there are just a rehashing the manufacturer’s press release. Knowing that you have actually touched and used the products makes your opinion immensely valuable.

I guess the only thing I’d change is avoiding reviews of snakeoil products. You’ve reviewed very few over the years but there isn’t anything else I can think of that I’d change.

  20. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer? 3 or 4 years!
What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? Reviews of devices – they are in depth and very real-world.
If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be? More items that cover the gamut of personal use – technical is fine, but I like hearing your specific opinions about using a product.

  21. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer?
It was one of the first feeds I added to my RSS reader several years ago.

What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer?
The reviews have an integrity that I don’t find at other gear sites.

If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be?
The vertical linear layout seems dated – I would consider a tiled layout, so that it’s easier to see more at first glance without having to scroll repeatedly.

  22. I’m not sure how long I’ve been visiting the Gadgeteer, but it’s been long enough to feel like these guys are part of my far-flung family. I think it’s been at least 10 years!

The thing I like most is the honesty I feel in the reviews. When I’m reading and considering a new gadget, I like to know what the team likes about things and finds frustrating from an everyday user point of view. Plus when we have questions, the author always answers them.

Dislike is the mobile view on my iPad, which makes me work to switch the view to read the comments. Would rather see a responsive view of the main site so I can easily read the comments.

  23. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer?
    Answers: ~15 yrs
What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer?
Answer: Real world use reviews of the latest and greatest tech.
If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be?
Answer: A better interface for getting to the review or article of interest quicker.

  24. I’ve been following about 5 years.
I like to hear your thoughts on products – helps me decide if I should look into them.
Would like follow up reviews -like 6 months or a year later – as to how the product held up and if you still use it.

  25. Not really joining the contest, but WOW! I can’t believe that I’ve been following your blog for the last 20 YEARS! Congratulations Julie! 🙂

  26. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer?
    * At least 5 years

What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer?
    * Sale notifications

If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be?
    * More content!

  27. Using feedly, I’ve been following The Gadgeteer for about 3 years now… I missed out on so much! The EDC stuff is the best. Keep it coming.

  28. I’ve been reading The Gadgeteer since before 1999.
I enjoy real world reviews of products and the eclectic mix of products.
I’d like to see an easier way to search for reviews.

  29. 1. I’ve been visiting The Gadgeteer for nearly five years now
    2. My favorite thing is that you folks tend to review things off the beaten path, things not really covered by other media. Plus you folks are a lot less biased as most.
3.I would ask that maybe you review things related to gaming or maybe things that are a little more accessible price-wise

  30. I have visiting The Gadgeteer on a daily basis (usually multiple times a day) for 15+ years. I do like that most reviews are unbiased, detailed and to the point.

A reasonable change would be no more product announcements. There have been times when reading what I thought was a review and in fact was just an announcement.
I have purchased (way too) many products over the years as a result of The Gadgeteer.

    Keep up the good work.

  31. 1. I have been following the Gadgeteer since about 1999. My first gadget device I needed accessories for was an HP200LX Pocket Computer. Still have it in my collection.
    2. I love the Gadgeteer because of the many different items that are covered. If I see it on the Gadgeteer and it is something I need or want, I take a close look at the review. I have yet to be disappointed by anything recommended by the Gadgeteer.
    3. Not sure there is much I would change. I like the current format over some of the previous attempts. I guess it would be nice if it was possible to categorize items so when you are looking for something particular it is somewhat easier.

    Thanks and Happy 20th.

  32. Congrats and happy birthday The Gadgeteer!
    1. I don’t remember but I have been a fan for years.
    2. Reviews definitely.
    3. More giveaways and keep the good work!

  33. I have been reading The Gadgeteer for at least 10 years now.

I like most that the reviews are much less biased that most of the reviews out there. Some items review well, others don’t. It seems to me that many sites out there now are only giving fluffy reviews so they get more items to review.

Revisit reviews more often with long term thoughts on the products.

  34. 1. I have been following for about a year now
    2. Love that the gadget reviews are down to earth for everyday user – don’t need to be technical to see the value in what’s being said.
    3. Better search features and VBlog postings!

  35. 1. I’ve been coming since the PalmPilot days.
    2. I like the reviews and reading the opinions of the reviewers
    3. I’d change the format for the iPad version to avoid horizontal scrolling.

  36. 1. I’m not sure, but I do remember coming to see reviews for Springboard Modules for my Handspring Visor.
    2. Genuine and honest reviews.
    3. What about adding a forum section?

  37. Happy 20th Birthday, Gadgeteers. I visit your site every day. This has caused me to part with a fair amount of money every year. But I must say I’ve been pleased with every purchase except one.

I especially like Julie’s insights and struggles to offer good advice about new products. I get a kick out what everybody’s every day gear bags and offices look like. I don’t expect to win anything, but who knows maybe I’ll be surprised.

  38. 1. I’ve been visiting for about 5 years now.
    2. The reviews are told in an honest way. Doesn’t seem to have any tinge of favoratism towards the product as a result of the manufactures ‘lobbying’.
    3. You could add a feature whereby the person that is reading the article that wants to see your final analysis you put towards the bottom of your article has to click on something to see your opinions. Then you could track how may folks actually are reading each individual article.

  39. 1. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer? => since 1997

    2. What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? => real world gadget testing. That includes Julie’s squeak test for gadget integrity.

    3. If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be? => how about click boxes to filter by product reviews / new product notices / news

    4. I am currently subscribed.

How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer?
    I think since 2006
What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer?
The uniqueness of the products that you feature
If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be?
Maybe an additional review after you have used the product for a couple of months to a year (long term usage, durability, etc.)

i am currently subscribed to the newsletter
    thanks

  41. Hi All,
1,Been browsing here for the past 7-8 years, learning of all the new technologies out in the markets.
2, What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? My family, who thinks I’m a dinosaur, is always amazed at how I always seem to have the latest travel/comp Tech…before the mainstream has seen it.You guys are cutting edge on testing. And for this I must say a huge Thank-You.

    – The thorough an thoughtful product reviews
If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be?
    – I would like to see more user comments (without meanness or snark)

  43. Joseph Fattizzi

How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer? – 20 years (when i started working in NYC)
What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? The quality reviews and pictures
If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be? The mobile app on the iPAD is horrible.

  44. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer? Not sure! Eight years?

What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? Well, contests of course. But really its about real world type reviews that includes things I otherwise would not hear about like water hoses and wallets?!?!

If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be? I would like MORE reviews. Yeah greedy like that!

  45. I’ve been visiting The Gadgeteer for 10 years now.

My favorite thing about The Gadgeteer is the reviews from different people.

The one thing that I would change about the site is to try and get more reviews on a single product so that there are different perspectives.

  46. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer? About a year or so.
What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? I often hear about gear here that I hadn’t otherwise.
If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be? Nothing that comes to mind, to be honest.

PS I am a subscriber already. [email protected]

  47. Arthur McTaggart

I’ve been reading The Gadgeteer from probably the very beginning, definitely 20 years.

My favorite thing is the very thorough reviews. When I’m looking for something I tend to check the site to see if it’s been reviewed, or I buy because of a review.

The only change I’d love to see more reviews of backpacks and bags of carrying. 🙂

  48. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer?
[MR] Starting year 3. Found the site through a Google search for a review on backpacks and have never left.

What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer?
[MR] Real people doing the reviews. I like that there are different interests within the reviewing staff and Julie is very good to get enthusiasts to review products. I can read spec sheets. I rely on reviews that involve actual usage.

If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be?
[MR] I would like “Guest” EDC postings. It is very interesting to compare what I carry around on a daily business and what others carry around. I am always looking for ways to improve the weight and physical number of objects. Comparing my collection with others has been insightful.

  49. Happy 20th Birthday, Gadgeteers. I visit the Gadgeteer site at least once every day. This has caused me to part with a fair amount of money every year. But I must say I’ve been pleased with every purchase, except one.

I especially like Julie’s insights and struggles to offer good advice about new products. I get a kick out what everybody’s every day gear bags and offices look like. I don’t expect to win anything, but who knows maybe I’ll be surprised?

  50. I’ve been reading Gadgeteer for almost 6 years
I like the reviews. They are some of the most genuine that I’ve found. Not just brand fanboy/girl service, but actual unbiased reviews.
What I might like to change would be to revisit older reviews. Like a lifetime review of your favorite bag that finally kicks the bucket.

  51. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer? Since 1997
What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer?
Julie’s reviews and how she makes tech fun and accessible for everyone.

If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be?
    More video reviews.

  52. 1. At least 10+ years
    2. I like the reviews – they’re practical and by real world users
    3. I’d love to see comparison reviews for like similar products

  53. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer? At least 15 years if not longer
What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? Very extensive reviews – I have bought many an item due to the reviews.
If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be? I would love a gadget podcast by you folks.

  54. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer? I am one of the first to visit this site, way back in the beginning in 1997. I was still on AOL at the time and was an active member on the PDA area. I have also occasionally contributed to the site over the years.

What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? How they detail reviews and announcements about new products that no other site does. The creativity of the reviews makes it a site to keep coming back to every day!

If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be? I don’t know. I visit many different sites, each of them with their own thing. This site is amazing and we have created quite a wonderful community around it. I wouldn’t change that for the world.

  55. I’ve been visiting the Gadgeteer for about 6 years.

The reviews are my favorite things! I’ve made purchasing decisions several times based on what I see here.

I don’t know what I would change about the site, more giveaways?

  56. I have been visiting The Gadgeteer for 2 years.
My favorite thing about The Gadgeteer is the variety of useful gear.
One thing to change would be more focus in reviews.

  57. Q: How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer?
A: Since nearly the beginning – Back when I got my first Palm Pilot and was looking for reviews, tips, and accessories

Q:What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer?
A: The extremely wide variety of products reviewed.

Q: If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be?
    A: Absolutely nothing

  58. 1. I’ve been a Gadgeteer fan from the get go!
    2. Reviews have always been my favorite, but I also enjoy the diaries and gear logs. And I really like the breadth of stuff covered.
    3. I know it comes with the territory, but if I could change one thing, it’d be fewer ads.

  59. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer? I think since you started it! It’s been a LOOOOONG time! Congrats on 20 years!

What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? Brutally honest reviews of a variety of items!

If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be? I don’t know… That’s hard, because I love your site. Maybe rearrange things a bit. Live comments in sidebars?

  60. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer? — since 2000
What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? — real people reviewing real stuff
If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be? — comparative reviews

  61. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer? Not sure but at least 3 years.
What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? Product giveaways.
If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be? More reviews on less costly alternatives to the high-end products you normally review.

  62. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer?
Several years now…one of my favorite blogs to read.

What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer?
The variety and quality of the products reviewed.

If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be?
Have one day that you concentrate on deals, sales, special prices only.

  63. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer?
I think I started following the site around 2001.

What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer?
I like the unbiased reviews, I know I’m not getting a paid advertisement.

If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be?
The site is pretty good as is.

  64. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer? Around 15 years.
What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? The variety of gadgets reviewed.
If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be? Nothing comes to mind!

  65. 1. I’ve been following Gadgeteer since at least 2012. It’s probably been longer, but I checked and found that the first thing I remember buying after reading a Gadgeteer review, the Car.go Handbag Hook, was purchased in 2012.
    2. I probably first started reading the phone reviews, and they remain a favorite, but I also enjoy the wide variety of products reviewed, as well as Julie’s favorites. Getting to “know” the Gadgeteer “family” has also been great fun.
    3. If I could change one thing about the site, it’s that the RSS feed can no longer be picked up by my “My Yahoo” webpage. I suppose that subscribing the to newsletter to get my bonus entry will help that problem, although I prefer to pull rather than push. Maybe a Gadgeteer will review a home page that I can switch to from Yahoo that supports the Gadgeteer feed!

  66. 1.How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer? On and off for about 8 years.
2.What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? I like that many of the products reviewed are not mainstream. Some I would have never found without the reviews on this site!
3.If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be? Not much really. I like the real world usage type reviews that are “real” and not fluff.

  67. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer? I honestly don’t remember. I know I read it in college and I graduated in 2005, so at least since then. I searched my gmail history and the earliest record of ‘the-gadgeteer’ is when I linked your Kidney Pie article in 2006 to my then girlfriend/now wife.

What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer?
The breadth of experience with existing and older gadgets means the observations and remarks on newer ones carries more weight.

If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be?
More of a minor annoyance, but the the mobile version of the site constantly changes articles when all I want to do is scroll down to read the article.

  68. 1.a.How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer?
I remember when Judy was still around… that was quite a while ago!

1.b. What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer?
I come here for the reviews, stick around for the funnies! And the give-aways of, course. 🙂

1.c. If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be?
    You’ve lasted 20 years – if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. 😉

  69. 1) Been a daily visitor of The Gadgeteer for over 10 years.
    2) Love the honest reviews and detailed photos.
    3) Would be awesome if you do more video reviews.

  70. 1. I’ve been visiting since the beginning, so 20 years
    2. Range of products covered
    3. Can’t think of anything that I want changed

  71. 1) How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer? This is my first visit. An Audioegine post brought me here.

    2) What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? So far, this contest. But now that I know the site exists, I look forward to exploring the reviews.

    3) If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be? So far it has worked well! No changes needed.

  72. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer? 4 or 5 years
What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? The unique gadgets you cover
If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be? Modernize the look

  73. 1) I’ve been using Gadgeteer since I 2006 or 2007.
    2) The general demeanor and not being a “fan” of one company.
    3) Cannot think of any changes.

  74. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer?

    > Since 1998, starting with the Philips Velo 500 HPC review (I was obsessed with the HPC form factor then… still am)

What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer?

    > Mainly that this site was about thoroughly geeking out over gadgets in-depth back at time when there wasn’t such devoted coverage at large on the internet. It felt like a clubhouse, and I loved how candid the discussion was.

    > It was a time of very weird gadgets that many people just didn’t seem to ‘get’, but you could be certain they’d get good coverage on The Gadgeteer — see the Xircom REX reviews for proof of this. I felt like they loved the strange gadgets as much as I did, and I’m glad I followed their encouragement.. those were really fun times, and I still try to keep the wild Gadgeteer spirit alive today.

    > Also, Julie’s infamous creak test! I am certain we would not be so lucky to have such generally rigid and well built gear these days had those blog posts never made such an impact.

If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be?

    > I kind of miss how minimal the original site was back in the day — maybe we could have throwback year to the 1998 layout sometime?

  75. 1- I’ve been following since the early days with Julie + Judy
2- Best thing about the Gadgeteer is Julie of course!!!
    3- More giveaways? LOL

  76. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer? Several years.
What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? EDC updates.
If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be? I don’t like the format of the mobile site, I prefer the classic version.

  77. 1.How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer? First time
2.What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? The Reviews.
3.If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be? Nothing.

  78. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer?
    Umm. at least 5 years.
What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer?
Love the gadget reviews. I am always on the hunt for new gadgets and the reviews really help, plus you feature some really cool and unknown stuff.
If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be?
    Maybe a logo change?

  79. I have been visiting The Gadgeteer for at least 15 years, and a daily visitor for 10 years.

My favorite thing is that you review the stuff that I like. Whenever I’m thinking about purchasing something, I can usually find a review of it on your site.

    I wouldn’t change a thing 🙂

  80. I stumbled across the site about 8 years ago, and I’ve been hooked ever since! The honest reviews and the diversity of products always keeps my interest. Because I’m an efficiency type person, I would love the details you supply at the end of the article at the beginning rather than the end (link, price, etc), but I also realize that is likely by design. Thanks!

  81. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer? Probably about 10 years, maybe more.
What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? Reviews of tech as well as everyday products like wallets and bags. Probably have bought over a dozen things based off site reviews.
If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be? I mostly view the site through the RSS feed which works well for me, so no real comment on the site itself.

  82. 1) I am new to Gadgeteer, maybe a year or so…
    2) I like the reviews on the new gear – lots of stuff I hadn’t heard of before
    3) maybe the background colors?

  83. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer?
I believe I’ve been visiting Gadgeteer since 2015 or so.

What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer?
The writing style is a little less formal and has a personal touch to it. It’s like reading an article a friend wrote — kinda hard to explain.

If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be?
Design/Color I suppose — it’s not bad, i kinda like the clean look, but it also looks a little dated and not so techy.

  84. 1. I have been reading the Gadgeteer since 2011.
    2. The knives, flashlights, wireless earbuds, and tool reviews. I, like most people, enjoy reviews of stuff I use the most.
    3. I would cut back on the reviews of overpriced bags, wallets, and organizational paraphernalia.

  85. (1) More than 10 years, (2) Well-crafted reviews. I have bought several things based on the reviews, and have been pleased with my purchases, (3) Very minor quibble: With the layout of articles different than most websites, I often try to scroll up, rather than right-to-left.

  86. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer? This is my first time here.
What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? Well again my first time but love the gadgets.
If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be? I would add more gadgets.

  87. 1 – I’ve been visiting The Gadgeteer for roughly 3 years at this point.

2 – I love the honest reviews. There’s no sugar coating.

3 – The one thing I’d change is the horizontal pagination on the tablet view. I’d prefer a standard vertical scroll.

  88. I’m already a newsletter subscriber! It’s a great way to remember to check into the site if I’ve been busy all week!

  89. 1.How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer?
Since the days of Palm OS in 2000 – used to read it on AvantGo.
2.What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer?
Great selection of recent gadgets. Hardly miss it.
3.If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be?
Love the site, so the best thing I think that would change is that this page shows me as a sweepstakes winner!

  90. 1. I’ve been visiting The Gadgeteer for over 10 years.
    2. The best part of the site (and the main reason I visit) is the exposure to new products.
    3. I have no suggested improvements for the site – it’s been great!

  91. 1. Probably about 2 years off and on.

    2. The interesting tech that is talked about and reviewed.

    3. More giveaways!

  92. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer? Not sure exactly, but for over a year at least.

What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? I really resonate with the reviews and how they are written. I don’t need predictions, scoop stories, rendered images of what something “might look like”, or comparisons to the “best”, I just need to know how a real person feels about it, how they use it, and what they think. I find the reviews I have read to be very helpful.

If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be? Not much really, Unless you want to expand your tester/writer pool 🙂

  93. 1. I came across The Gadgeteer while looking for info about a Palm Pilot, and have been enjoying it ever since. So that must be…. the early oughts! ’02? ’03? Wow! Time Flies!
    2. It’s a treat to see well-done reviews on so many gadgets I didn’t have a clue were out there.
    3. This is a great website to read; I’ve got no change recommendations to make – congratulations on turning 20!

  94. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer? 19.5 year
What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? Accurate reviews.
If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be? More corgi.

  95. I’ve been visiting The Gadgeteer for a couple of years. I enjoy reading about gear that often isn’t featured on other Tech websites I go to. I can’t really think of any changes I’d like to see other than even more stuff then gets reported on now.

  96. I’ve been visiting you guys since not long after you started, I think around 2000. The Gadgeteer always had reviews on the latest PDAs.
My favorite thing about the site is the staff of course. I love the honest, simple reviews and I think your reviews have always reflected a more “real world” viewpoint vs other sites that focus on specs and numbers.
Occasionally some of the reviews are a little short, so that’s really the only thing I think could be improved

  97. 1. I’ve been visiting for the past five years.
    2. My favorite thing is the humor in each review!
    3. I would like the site layout to feel a bit more contemporary, but this is only minor.

  98. I knew the name Gadgeteer with the ‘teer’ hinted the roots of the Privateer game era…but 20 years?! Congratulations!

How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer? ~ 10 years!
What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? – The name!
If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be? Expansion to show the likes of CNET & Co who’s the original one! Kidding haha. Nothing really!

  99. 1- I found and still are enjoying your site for about 6-7 years now
2- My favorite thing about The Gadgeteer is my favorite things to read about are electronics and gadgets.
3- Nothing comes to mind about change, I enjoy visiting because your site is well done
P.S. Sorry I missed the first 13 years

  100. Gosh, I can’t remember how long I’ve been visiting The Gadgeteer. Probably at least 15 years. Favorite things about Gadgeteer? Covers everything I need and then some. I remember when it was just you and a one other lady. What would I change? Nothing I can think of. Keep up the great work!

  101. I have been visiting The Gadgeteer for about 6 months. Started when I began looking for credible reviews for various gadgets and regularly found The Gadgeteer to have informed and in depth reviews that I appreciated. That is also my favorite thing about this site. If I were to change anything, it would only be the layout. I love the information, but the layout is is very stagnant.

  102. Visiting on and off for about a year. Enjoy the reviews on minimalist items. I think you need a fancier logo!

  103. I have been checking this page out for at least 12 years I like the reviews and honest funny assessments of things,it’s become my go to !!

  104. 1. At least 10 years. Back when Palms roamed the earth.
    2. Reviews of variety of products. Nice pictures.
    3. Have theme of the month and have guest expert review a product that month.

  105. 1. Many years. Judie was still 1/2 of the site, Palm PDAs were current.
    2. The reviews, and Julie’s favorite gear, especially what works well and why, especially when traveling.
    3. Hm. Tough question. The site as is works fine.

  106. I dunno how long I’ve been coming here – five or six years at least. Love the reviews. How to improve things? Keep ’em coming!

    Chris

  107. 1.) I’ve visited off and on for more than 5 years.
2.) I like that you include non-electronic gadgets as well as the bluetoothed, USB’d, computerized stuff.
    3.) Is just fine .

  108. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer?
    3 years or so

What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer?
is updated regularly and covers stuff I am interested in generally

If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be?
perhaps more video reviews or long term ownership reviews

  109. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer? 3-4 years
What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? The honest reviews
If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be? Would like to see a “best gadget” ranking.

  110. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer? About 17, 18 years; back in my Palm/Handspring days.
What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? The comprehensive reviews and interesting perspectives.
If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be? I like the site as it is.

  111. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer? Since 2000.

What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? I love the variety of reviews and the big detailed photos.

If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be?
More car accessory reviews. They’d be great for all the folks with long commutes.

  112. 1.How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer?
For about 2 years and I love the site!
2.What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer?
I love the variety of gadgets that you test. It is nice to see so many different types because you are bound to be interested in many of them.
3.If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be?
The site is great as it is! I would not change anything!

I already subscribe to the newsletter.

  113. Hello,

How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer? I just recently discovered you site while browsing for some reviews of a gadget. Glad I found your site.

What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? I love the way you do the reviews of different gadgets with nice pictures and detailed descriptions.

If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be? None, I like the simplicity of the look of the site, nothing to many fancy things which can distract readers. Straight to the point of getting readers to the articles. More blessings and more power to your site.

  114. 1. Probably since around 2008 or 2009. Not sure. Time is a blur.
    2. I like when toys and unusual or unique items are reviewed (not phones, bags, or cases)
    3. I would not permit any of the reviewers to use the tired phrase of “if you’re like me…..” in their reviews. If you’re like me you find it annoying and unimaginative in general.

  115. Jason Kornblatt

    1) I’ve probably been visiting The Gadgeteer since 2012?
    2) My favorite thing about The Gadgeteer is Julie’s Favorite Gear? It’s helped me discover a few precious items, notably Uniball Jetstream, my go-to pen.
    3) If I could change one thing about the site, I would have contests like this monthly. Everyone deserves a real chance to win. (Well, maybe not “deserves”…)

  116. 1. It has been years, at least 7, probably much more
    2. The product reviews
    3. If you could move the inline ads off to the right instead of inbetween the articles when you’re scrolling, but that is really a small annoyance.

  117. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer? The oldest email I could find was from 2005. I’m sure I’ve been visiting for far longer than that. So, at least 12 years.
What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? Fresh, real-world-use, in-depth reviews of items that have always piqued my interest.
If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be? I miss some of the “lets look ahead at what’s coming” articles, as when you went to industry conventions and expositions.

  118. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer? I checked my emails, I have emails from 2007, but I’m sure I’ve been reading longer than that.
What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? Reviews and Technical sharing, so I can figure stuff out, or determine exactly what some device is capable of.
If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be? Maybe some hints for using older devices (I’m more into things that are a little older and more economical, rather than the newest phone).

  119. 1. A little over a year now..started sometime in early 2016
    2. I really like that you all keep your reviews relatively short, sweet, and informative. Pictures/videos are always helpful, you include a price, and a link so that we can quickly go and check out the item in more depth.
    3. More giveaways! Ok, but on a more serious note, I really like it when you all review high-quality gadgets and gear, however, I feel like sometimes the site gets watered-down with cheap items that haven’t proven reliable. If the ratio were higher (leaning heavier on high-quality) it would definitely get me to come back more often.

  120. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer? About 5 years.

What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer? Tech reviews/news and all the latest and greatest in everyday carry items.

If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be? I think it’s satisfying as-is.

  121. 1.I’ve occasionally been visiting here for a few years, and finding great content not often covered by other tech sites.
    2. I love the way your website is set-up.
    3. This is a tough question, probably a new name and logo, something shorter, more modern sounding while being very original.

  122. I’ve been visiting intermittently for about 5 years.
I most appreciate the frank reviews. I particularly enjoy the audio coverage.
I can’t come up with suggestions for major changes to improve, other than a selfish request for more headphone/IEM coverage.

  123. I’ve been reading you guys for 10+ years, way back when it was Julie and Judy

I like the fact that there are articles everyday, from different reviewers

If I could change one thing I would say a better search function. for example, a while back I was looking for a IP camera so I searched for that. i wish the results were grouped together more efficiently (vs just show by key words)

  124. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer?
    about 5 years

What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer?
some of the products are useful to me, but even when they aren’t, this site makes them fun to read about.

If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be?
A commitment not to change; it’s quaintness is appealing and really differentiates it.

  125. How long have you been visiting The Gadgeteer?
A friend of mine gave me her Palm IIIxe when she upgraded to the Palm V during the summer of 1999, I was in college and I remember going to my school’s computer lab to read your site’s review’s of all the Palm and Sony CLIE PDAs. I LOVED the Sony CLIE’s and your honest reviews of them! I purchased a T615 and T665 and always wanted a UX50! I still have a working Palm TX (purchased after your review) that I pull out time to time.
What’s your favorite thing about The Gadgeteer?
Your honest reviews and the fact that you don’t always review “gadgets”. I purchased a Saddleback Leather Front pocket briefcase from your review!
If you could change one thing about the site, what would it be?
I would love to see a companion app to go along with the site.
    Thanks!
