I’ve seen chalkboard paint, but I’ve never seen dry-erase whiteboard paint before.  With IdeaPaint, you can add a dry erase board to walls, tabletops, or other suitable surfaces using just a paint roller.  (Professional installation is available, too, for the non-DIYers.)  It’s available in the standard white, but it’s also available in black or in clear that can be added over any color.  They even offer special white markers for use with black or dark-colored boards.  Enough IdeaPaint to cover 50 square feet costs $225.  How much would a commercial dry-erase board that size cost?

  2. Several years ago in my old house, I went to the home improvement big box store and buy a 6 ft x 3 ft panel of shower wallboard for $10.

  3. Even without this, you can still have a dry erase whiteboard anywhere you want. You just need a paint roller — and regular paint that matches the wall.

  4. @Kimmo I’m not sure what you mean; how does regular paint that matches the regular paint already on the wall make it a dry-erase board? Do you mean that you “erase” by repainting the wall?

  5. This is a good idea, but if you want a product that works, try drawItPaiNt dry erase paint, they’re the only whiteboard paint company that guarantees the wipe. I only replace whiteboards when they stop wiping so this is defnitely a good product because they back up their warranty.

    1. Hello Patricia,

How are you finding your drawitPaint now a year later. Did you paint it yourself? What is your application that you are using the board for? How much use or abuse does it get and what version of the drawitpaint did you use?
Your further comments would be appreciated.
