  1. Gadgeteer Comment Policy - Please read before commenting
  2. My favorite toy as a child was Electric Football. I am sure everyone remembers watching their football players vibrate across the playing field. Boy, we have come a long way with toys since I was a kid.

  3. Not an entry (obviously). Just wanted to tell people that it is now almost three months and my seven-year-old son still enjoys playing with this set. Best of all…he and his brother still haven’t broken any of it (it must be made of Kevlar).
    Good luck all!

  4. I grew up without much money or toys. My favorite toy was the slinky because I could pretend it was a pet, a friend, play pretend music, pretend it was a dinosaur, walk up and down the stairs, fling it back and forth as in catch. It was just about everything.

  5. My favorite toys as a child were Lego building blocks. Had the entire castle and pirate sets! Can’t wait until my son is old enough to enjoy them like I did! Right now for him the Choo-choo’s rule though! LOL

  6. My favorite childhood toy was an electronics kit that let you build various working circuits with these spring-type connectors. Very cool, played with it for years!

  7. Here’s a copy of my review of this prize. Good luck, folks. If you win your kids (or you) are going to be happy.

  8. My favourite toy when I was young was those paper dolls that you punch out their clothes and fold them on to the doll.

My daughter now has one with rare earth magnets! Total geek cred.

  9. My favorite toy was the Gilbert Chemistry set … which today is virtually outlawed by all the silly safety regulations that say I and millions of others should be dead. And the Alpha One rocket, also no longer available!

  10. My favorite toy was by far my battle damage He-Man action figure, you press his chest and a rotating panel shows battle scars on his armor. I’d use our family cat to inflict damage on He-Man, no power of Gray Skull could help him. Love your site btw 🙂

  11. My favorite toy as a child was a Meccano set made from steel. This was more intricate than the plastic version – but really cool.

  12. My best toy was a Gilbert (I think) chemistry set from back in the day when you could do interesting experiments w the sets (unlike today where the Consumer Safety Agency has removed all the interesting stuff). The chemistry set got me into gunpowder and home made rockets and the less said about that the better.

  13. My favourite was a small crystal radio that I used to listen to radio serials under the bed clothes at night. I still (50+ years later) still sleep with an earphone in one ear.

  14. My favourite toy was the transformer megatron. My three year old boy’s favourite toys are Chuggington die cast trains…he would love this prize!

  15. We used to go back to Japan every other year, and I remember getting Tomica die-cast metal cars. Along with Corgi, the die-cast metal cars were the best — much larger than Hot Wheels, and plenty of choices (especially the customized vehicles from 70’s tv shows like UFO, Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet, etc.). Still miss them.

  16. Since I was sick a lot as a chile, my favorite toy was a bag full of plastic “army men” and “Space men” – I’d set them up on a TV tray next to my bed and direct them through adventures (occasionally ‘accidentally’ spilling my water glass to cause a flood!)

  17. My favorite toy as a child was a microphone/speaker set. I also really loved Barbie dolls 🙂 My son would love this Chuggington set. Great giveaway!

  18. My favorite toy was that thin film of liquid crystal called the “space fidget”. I found a brand new one on eBay about six months ago and it has a place of honor on my shelf of childhood stuff.

  19. The winner of this contest is #17 Henry Gernhardt.

Congrats Henry and thanks to everyone that entered. It was fun reading about your favorite childhood toys. FYI, my favorite toys were building sets. We didn’t have money for LEGO, so I had my Dad’s own childhood Erector set and a funky plastic building set from Tupperware.
