miamobi cellphone casesSupposedly, your cellphone still sends out information to the service provider about your activities even after you’ve turned it off.  If you want to make sure that no one can track those signals, you need a case or bag from MIAmobi.  The lining in these bags contains colloidal silver, which blocks all radio frequencies to/from your phone.  You’ll be completely off the grid, so no one can track your whereabouts.  That does mean you’ll also be unable to receive phone calls while the phone is in the bag, but that can be a plus, especially for teenaged drivers, to prevent the temptation to text or make calls while driving.  Another benefit of colloidal silver is that it is antimicrobial.  Cellphones carry a lot of germs, and placing one in these bags is said to sanitize the phone.

MIAmobi bags come in various sizes to fit most cellphones, smartphones, and even tablets.  No prices are shown on the website, but they do have an email address you can use to request purchasing information.

  2. There over 300,000 mobile app developed for smartphones, many of which are stealth and ease dropping on your every move capable of turning on functions on your phone like your mic, camera, GPS, address book and more, even when it has been turned off. There is only one sure way to stop this if you really want to know for sure that you have control of your mobile device is to block all wifi coming in or going out.
But we don’t all have to be worried about that do we. The conveyance of instantly silencing your phone or putting the phone away when getting in your car without having to powering it down. (out of site out of mine) may save a few lives in 2012.

  4. It also blocks all RFID in passports, credits, smartkeys and more.

  5. Fred- What would be the point of putting it in the bag while powered on since it can’t transmit or receive while in the bag?

  6. Sorry Fred- I did not realize you were replying to the manufacturer.

I might buy one of these to protect me from thieves in crowded places or while traveling but the idea of going “off the grid” screams of paranoia to me.

  7. I’m tempted to ask if you can also buy hats made out of this material.

Many of the over 300,000? How many? 10,000? 50,000? 100,000?

Collodial Silver has been around for a long time and has also been the fodder for a great many cure-all related claims. It does serve as an anti-microbial agent, but I’m not sure putting a phone in a bag that has some in the material is going to serve that purpose and effectively clean the phone. All I’ve read on the use of silver for this purpose has it in a liquid suspension.

As for the RF blocking that’s certainly possible. That type of tool is used all the time in some businesses and I believe law enforcement. I think they’re sometimes called Faraday bags. Here’s one (http://www.ebay.com/itm/RF-Shield-Block-Pouch-Bag-Cell-Phone-Mobile-Data-/150607088526) that is available on eBay for $8. Does it work? I dunno…I guess it would be fairly easy to test. Put your phone in the bag and call it. Could also connect it to your WiFi and see if it disconnects.

  8. If you want to be absolutely certain that your mobile is untraceable move to Lincolnshire UK there is no signal over night & its bloody useless during the day! Be safe peeps think Lincolnshire UK the land with ZERO signal strength ;(

  9. Louis,
If you live in a state that has EZ-Pass/Sun Pass Payment systems many times they’ll supply you with a silver tyvek type bag that will also serve the same purpose. It might not be fashionable, but it does cut-off RF.
