wikireader e1292425583239Openmoko’s WikiReader handheld Wikipedia viewer, which we reviewed late last year, is now able to display the entire contents of Project Gutenberg. Project Gutenberg is the oldest digital library which contains more than 33,000 digital books. All of these books have been converted and compressed so that users can download the entire Project Gutenberg library onto a 4GB microSD card, which can then be installed in the WikiReader for reading without a need for a connection to the Internet. Current WikiReader owners can update their device to add this capability by visiting http://www.thewikireader.com/update/.

Oh, okay I see it, duh! I thought that was just the software update but it’s the full 4Gig download, dang 🙂
Imagine having all Wikipedia and all of Project Gutenberg in the palm of your hand, yikes what power and it’s offline too!!!!
Amazon has it on sale for $70.38 + 6.98 shipping (Pandigital is the North American distributor of WikiReader).. Can’t beat that price for all that knowledge!

  3. Need some help… recently purchased Wikireader but it won’t work!!! I put in fresh batteries – didn’t help. I removed the chip and reseated it – no change. Am I at the right place or do I need to go elsewhere for this assist. All I get is the screen with the picture of the manual. Please help.

  4. I was going to get me one of these and then for some reason I forgotten all about the device and now it’s even supported any longer 🙁
