If you like to share your photographs and you don’t have an Eye-Fi card, you are missing out. I just bought my first one about a month ago, and I love it.
Fortunately for us mobile shutterbugs, Eye-Fi just announced their latest model, the Pro X2. At 8GB, it doubles the max capacity of their previous high-end models, adds 802.11n support, and sports a new feature called “Endless Memory”. This allows the card to remove images automatically as they are uploaded, so you can shoot and shoot and shoot and never have to worry about filling up the card. Like previous models, the Pro X2 still includes features like lifetime geotagging and Selective Transfer, and all for a ridiculously low $150. The Pro X2 is available for pre-order on Eye-Fi’s website or through Amazon.

One thing I haven’t been able to figure out from the (admittedly small amount of) poking around I’ve done: how does this do geotagging? It doesn’t have integrated GPS does it? If not, is it able to do triangulation, or is it just basing the location on having WiFi access?
I’m just curious: having the geotagging would be -awesome- for snapping pics while traveling!
Heh! Just found it, thus answering my own question. For anyone curious, here’s the info from their website: “The geotagging feature uses Wi-Fi Positioning Service (WPS) technology to tag your photos with geolocation information.”
Finally! A listed speed rating (class 6)! Preorder placed.
Ooh, “Endless Memory” sounds like a nice feature for a bird-watching camera setup (especially given that it supports RAW now…)

We just got the EyeFi 4GB card with the Google $50 for 250GB for a year of online storage deal. It’s such a fantastic product; Setup was simple, and operation is even simpler. Only downside is the additional battery draw – It reduces the battery life by about half. But even with battery life considered, anyone taking pictures regularly should get one of these cards!
