On Battery Xtender Alkaline Battery Recharger:
Hey fellow gadgeteers: I received my internet order from the distributor a few days back and have had no issues with battery leakage what so ever. I was seeing 2-packs of AAA batteries in 7-11 (yeah not the cheapest price but aided in my justification of purchase) for CDN$4.99 and thought that despite the one bad review here, the USD$50 was a small gamble to take if I was able to avoid such unnecessary costs. Just to be safe I am charging the batteries with the unit 'face-down' so any faulty batteries that escape my 'eye' will leak onto the inside of the lid, rather than into the inside of the unit, toasting the charger. I'll keep you posted if anything 'noteworthy' comes about.

On "Who wants my Nokia E61i Smartphone?" in Julie's gear diary:
This phone would be a welcome addition/replacement to the minimalist sanyo I am currently packing around. VDay for me was full of love (that of wine, woman (x1) and song). Spent a night out on the town, taking in a local rock/regge band with a full brass section. Very nice indeed. Thanks for the chance at the phone!
On iSkin ProTouch MacBook Keyboard Protector Video Review:
Hey Gadgeteers...
I've been using one of these on my MacBook Pro for a year or so. Primarily to keep the dust and grime out of the keys while I am using it in the field (well from my laptop mount in my vehicle anyways) during work. It has left smudges as a previous post had mentioned but they do indeed wipe off. If my windows (vehicle, not XP ones) are open, there is a tendency for it to flutter around and pop off the keys as I am traveling along the road.
I do find that if you are in lower light conditions and looking at the keyboard from a 'low' angle...say watching a movie on it from the couch...that the letters on the keys are somewhat obscured from view because you have to look through the silicone at such a low angle. (Mine is an opaque grey colour) This is not an issue if the keys are backlit however. The silicone (both sides) wipes pretty clean with a warm, wet rag if it gets grimy.
cheers

On "How much does an inexpensive digital camera cost?" in Julie's gear diary:
Hey Julie...That DEPENDS on what results you are expecting out of the camera. Someone that takes LOTS of pictures with the intent of capturing 'quality' images would be inclined to spend a bit more than the person that wants to take pictures of, say...."that dog with a puffy tail" (my obscure 'nod' to Homer S....or is it H. Simpson)...
ANYways...personally, I'd be inclined to take the 'best' cellphone camera and go a couple of 'steps' above that benchmark. Assuming that everyone who has a mobile, has a camera included therein ... then the purpose of purchase would be to capture higher quality images than a camera phone would allow.
A.K.A.: $300-
=)
