On "Am I fickle, spoiled, restless or all of the above?" in Julie's gear diary:
Because I don't carry an ipod around (I use a 60gig at home on my audio system and a 8gig nano at the gym) I was not and am not tempted by the iphone. And I do use a fair amount of software on my MotoQ (even a star chart for my nights in the country). In fact I wish I were excited by the iphone as, like you, I feel a bit stale. We're clearly asking for too much emotional satisfaction from our gadgets, so I'll tell you what I tell myself which is to calm down.
On "Do you still read magazines the old fashioned way?" in Julie's gear diary:
I simply don't understand people who state that they read only in e-form. So much of what I want to read is not available in e-form, and I am not about to let e-availability determine what I read. So, yes, I read both in e-form (if I can, on my Kindle) and on paper. At present, there is for me no other way.

On "Will you buy the new 3G iPhone?" in Julie's gear diary:
I will not be getting an iphone for one reason alone: the battery. Battery life is, well, pathetic (my wife used one for an afternoon, had 3G on, and got barely 3 hours!) and the battery is sealed. What was Jobs thinking? I think there is a loud cheer coming down from RIM headquarters, as such a device will never suit the business user. BTW, the 3G is also pretty pathetic, just twice as fast as EDGE and with very spotty availability. It's a toy, a very pretty toy to be sure, but a toy nevertheless.
