You never know what you will find at Google Labs, I have been playing with a very cool Android app I need to review. The latest thing I discovered is the App Inventor. This is a web-based application that allows you to create an application for your Android phone.

This is an application designed for anyone. Here is their quote from the site:

To use App Inventor, you do not need to be a developer. App Inventor requires NO programming knowledge. This is because instead of writing code, you visually design the way the app looks and use blocks to specify the app’s behavior.

You have to sign up for access, but there is no mention on what is required. It appears it’s just a matter of time for approval. You do need to sign up with a gmail address (then again, if you have an Android phone, you have a gmail address, and if you don’t, why do you want the tool).

They also give credit to some tools used as the basis of the application:

• Open Blocks Java Library
• Kawa Language framework

I’ve signed up. We’ll see what it is like when I get access.
