This entry is part 1 of 3 in the series Gadgets for cold hands

So you look at these and think, “You gotta be kidding.”  This is what I have to put up with because my hands are freezing at the office?  Do I really have to sacrifice my dignity with these and subject myself to snickers and snorts just because I’m a wimp and hate cold hands?

When Julie asked me to review the Matte for Men line of skin care products, I jumped at the chance.   After all, I’m a man and I have skin so I satisfy both of the system requirements.  Add into that a search over the last 18 years for skin care products that would spare me [...]

Violight, the creators of the rockin’ toothbrush sanitizer, Zapi, are back at it again this year and have added a few new kooky personalities to their devices. All of the Violight sanitizers use UV B technology to zap away 99.999% of germs and bacteria—even H1N1! And now, without further ado, enter the ninja…

I have crummy posture, so this gadget / clothing product caught my attention when I saw it  in the latest Skymall catalog on my flight back from Fort Myers Florida this past week. The PostureTek Biofeedback Apparel System is available in a shirt or bra design. An adjustable controller is located in a hidden pocket [...]

Do you have any idea how much water you should drink in a day to be healthy?  Do you have any idea how much water you actually consume during the day?  Drinking proper amounts of water daily is important to keep your body working properly, but I know I never get in much water. The [...]

Would you like to know how many pounds last weekend’s binge of McDonald’s cheeseburgers, fries and chocolate chip cookies put on your badonka-donk? There’s an app for that! Actually, there’s a scale and an app for that. It’s the WiFi Body Scale from Withings and I want one. First of all, it’s a sleek (.9 [...]

I reviewed the OHSO Marko travel toothbrush about 3 years ago and now they have a new smaller version called the Presto. You can fill the Presto with your favorite toothpaste, toss it in your gear bag and use it to clean your teeth or freshen your breath anytime you need to. The Presto is [...]

With the government looking to take over your health care, you may want to take matters into your own hands.  While I haven’t come across the Acme Home Brain Surgery Kit yet, there are certainly things you can do at home to assess and monitor your health.  One of the easiest is blood pressure monitoring, [...]

You either worry about SAR or you don’t. SAR stands for Specific Absorption Rate, which is the unit of measurement for the amount of RF energy absorbed by the body when using a mobile phone. I don’t think about it very often, but once in awhile it crosses my mind that I probably should not [...]

This device from Hammacher Schlemmer looks more like a something from the Spanish Inquisition than a product designed to relieve forearm pain. It replicates the Swedish arm massage technique to soothe the inflamed, stiff extensor and flexor muscles that cause forearm pain. Simply place your arm between the compression spring-loaded rollers, turn the dial to [...]

Polar is taking their heart rate monitor experience and making it live, on-screen for health club group exercise classes, like spinning. Class members simply wear a Polar chest strap (no watch required), and their live heart rate data (% of max HR, target zones) is beamed onto a digital checkerboard screen. The data helps people [...]

This is a the dumbest thing I’ve seen in awhile. This lip enhancement kit from SkyMall of all places, claims to make your lips fuller and sexier instantly. Ummmm… ok… Apparently you slather on the included Micro Collagen Plumping Balm and then use the squeezie thing to suction your lips. What I think is funny [...]

I’m sure that you’re aware of the benefits of staying in your target heart rate zone while working out. Now you can stay in that zone even while swimming. The Aqua Pulse from Finis clips to your ear and uses bone conduction to audibly communicate your heart rate in a user determined frequency (20seconds, 30seconds, [...]

I know it’s Spring time now and we all probably have enough humidity in our homes and offices, but if you happen to live in a dry area, this personal humifier from ThinkGeek looks pretty gadget worthy. At $60, it’s more expensive than one you can pick up at Walmart, but I can’t help but [...]

Over three years ago, I reviewed the original Sleeptracker watch which claimed to help a person wake more refreshed, by waking them at the perfect time during their sleep cycle. It didn’t work well for me, but there are a lot of people that swear by it. Those people will be happy to learn that [...]

I predict that the Xtensor Gamer Hand Exerciser from ThinkGeek will elicit one of two reactions. For the hardcore basement dwelling gamers it will be “Yesssssssssss!” and for the basement dwelling geeks it will be “Yessssssssssss!” Come on, who can resist this strange contraption that claims to “…perform with true biomechanical correctness, able to stimulate [...]

It takes a lot of dedication and inspiration to workout on a regular basis. At the end of 2004 when I found out that I was diabetic, I became completely gung-ho on working out and eating healthy. While I still have the will power to eat healthy (no sugar), I fell off the workout wagon [...]
