Verizon announced their LTE (4G) roll-out plans. After the jump you can see the list of 38 Metropolitan Areas. I was very pleasantly surprised to see Cincinnati listed, as I waited a long time for 3G to make it here on T-Mobile, and have not heard when Sprint plans 4G for my city. Click on [...]

Why the Peek 9

The makers of the Peek Pronto have introduced a new device; the Peek 9. Great! What is it? Is it a phone? A scientific calculator? A digital dictionary? I got it, it’s an Electronic Foreign Language Translator! Actually it is none of those things. It is an Email Device. It probably should be some or [...]

I’ve been spending a lot of time at the Sony website recently (trying to find out when my new Sony reader will ship), and I stumbled across a nice-looking dock and wireless speakers set for iPod/iPhone.  The ALTUS ALT-SA31IR dock charges your iPod while you listen to music in two rooms using the high-output, premium wireless speakers.  There’s [...]

When I first heard this bit of news, I thought, “Please, not another Straight Talk …” Thankfully it is not.  Walmart Family Mobile, Powered by T-Mobile has just thrown its hat into the race with a pretty competitive price point for service. Will it be a deal budget-junkies can’t resist? Or will the handsets being [...]

I’ve been using powerline ethernet for several years and it’s allowed  me to extend my home LAN to every corner of the house without having to rewire the building.   I have used and tested several HomePlug devices, but the innoband Wireless N solution is unique in that it also includes a WiFi access point.

If you think you need to run ethernet cables from your router upstairs to a device downstairs, you might be in the market for the ConneXt 200W-A1 from innoband.  You can save yourself some grief and money using this wireless ethernet bridge.  It really doesn’t get any easier than this.

This sounds like one of those things that we’ll use and say,  “Why haven’t I used one of these before?”  Logitech has just released a new wireless keyboard with back-lit buttons.  For anyone who uses a computer (or would like to) in a room that is not fully lit this seems like a no-brainer.  As [...]

Being born in the 1970s, I grew up in a world where landline telephones were a central part of every person’s life.  Every teenage girl had a princess phone, and every family kitchen had a wall-mounted phone with a ridiculously long cord.  Talking on the phone hands-free meant tilting one’s head sideways and using one’s [...]

Of all of the obvious features that users clearly want on their iPhones/iPads/iPods, but that Apple has so far refused to provide, wireless synchronizing is easily the most popular.  Nova Media has announced a software solution that, for Mac users, takes a few small steps towards solving this problem. Nova Media’s iHub is an OS [...]

Can you hear me now? Everyone with a cellphone has probably asked that question at one time or another while checking the signal on their phone. I’ve been skeptical of so called signal boosters after reviewing the the Cell Ranger PORT Signal Booster a few years back, but agreed to try the CelLynx 5BARz Road [...]

You’re probably saying “do we really need another mouse?”.  These were my sentiments before I received the Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500 (it is a mouthful).  The device does have a hook that makes it a reasonable investment.

A multitude of messaging mobile phones were launched in 2009, and the trend appears to be continuing in 2010.  The recently-release Pantech Link offered through AT&T is one such device (see Press Release here).  It is a new handset with nice hardware for a great price.  Let’s dig in.
