crowdfund

This week I found three interesting projects on Kickstarter and one from Indiegogo for your crowdfunding shopping pleasure. Click through to read this week’s list of crowdfunding projects that have caught my eye.

DUO | The Ultimate Everyday Ballpoint Pen and Stylus

What is it?
The DUO is a combination ballpoint pen and stylus made of machined anodized aluminum.

Why do I like it?
They sent me a pre-production sample of the DUO so I could see it in person. I like the DUO because it has a really slim profile, a minimalist design, great balance, and it doesn’t use a cap. The top section of the pen barrel smoothly twists to reveal the pen tip.

The DUO’s stylus tip is replaceable (6mm Wacom Bamboo Stylus tip) and the pen uses Cross type refills that include Fisher, Monteverde and a couple other brands of refills.

Paragon: The Ultimate Smart Cooking System

What is it?
Paragon is a smart cooking system that uses an induction cooktop that connects via Bluetooth to a silicon mat and probe to monitor and control the cooking temperature of the food no matter if you’re sauteing, browning, simmering or using sous vide techniques.

Why do I like it?
I like food and I really like food that is perfectly cooked. My glass topped stove doesn’t always make it easy for me to cook a perfect meal because the temperature for each burner is all over the place. It drives me crazy when I am trying to fix something as simple as a grilled cheese and after 5 minutes the bread hasn’t toasted, but if I turn my back at 5 minutes and 30 seconds, the sandwich is burned. The Paragon cooktop looks like might solve issues like that.

Although the Paragon cooktop only has one burner, it would be perfect for people who live in a tiny house or small apartment and don’t need a multiple burner stove. You will need your own induction-compatible cookware unless you opt for one of the pledge points that include Chantal cookware.

LapLite: The Most Futuristic Mobile Workstation Ever Made

What is it?
The LapLite is a wooden lap desk for laptops.

Why do I like it?
I like to sit on the couch with my MacBook Pro and do some work while also watching TV. I could do a LOT more work faster and easier with a lap desk like this one. The LapLite can accommodate up to a 17″ laptop and has some extra features that other lap desks lack like an aluminum mouse pad and a slot for your phone. To desk also has holes that provide ventilation to keep the laptop and your lap cool.

JUISIR – juicing with zero cleaning and more juice

What is it?
The JUISIR is a fruit and vegetable juicing machine.

Why do I like it?
I like the JUISIR because it does one thing other juicers do not. It juices with no mess to clean up. I’ve tested juicers before and they are a huge pain in the rear to clean after making a few glasses of juice. The JUISIR is a whole new design in juicers. The ingredients (fruit and veggies) go in a bag (one time use and reusable) and the bag goes in the machine. Then the JUISIR’s press mechanism exerts about eight tons of force to crush the fruit to make juice which pours from a spout in the bag.

With 14 days left in their campaign, The JUISIR campaign has greatly surpassed their funding goal of $35,376. You can pre-order a JUISIR starting at $399. After the JUISIR campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in May 2017. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.
