crowdfund

This week I have five crowdfunding projects for gear that you can keep one your wrist, in your pocket, on your desk and on your bike. Enjoy!

365 Calendar by Poligon

What is it?
The 365 Calendar by Poligon is a calendar that will be available in a few different styles. Instead of having a typical paper calendar hanging on the wall in your office, the Poligon calendars are made of stamped metal that has the days cut out in such a way that you can bend them in as each day goes by.

Why do I like it?
I like these calendars because they are more unique than a normal paper calendar. I think it would be fun to mark each day as it passes by bending in the little daily tab. I also think that kids would like this type of calendar as a way to mark the time to a big event like a holiday, vacation, etc. It gives the passage of time more of a tactile quality instead of just a flat grid hanging on the wall.

With only 9 days left in their campaign, The 365 Calendar campaign has already met and passed their funding goal of $9788. You can pre-order a 365 Calendar starting at $21. After the 365 Calendar campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in December 2016. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

RAVEAN WALLET | World’s Most Functional Minimalist Wallet

What is it?
The Ravean wallet is a minimalist wallet made from carbon fiber that has a modular design that includes a removable money clip and tracker.

Why do I like it?
I converted over to a minimalist wallet back in April after I reviewed the Trayvax Summit wallet and I haven’t looked back. I later switched to an even smaller minimalist wallet – the Identity wallet, which is perfect except for the logo badge that sticks out. It’s made of carbon fiber like the Ravean. The Ravean looks appealing to me because you can add a money clip. I rarely use cash anymore, but I like having the option if and when I might want to attach some money. The tracker option doesn’t do anything for me, but it’s cool that you can add it if you like. This wallet also has RFID blocking.

With only 4 days left in their campaign, The Ravean wallet campaign has already greatly surpassed their funding goal of $50,000. You can pre-order a Ravean wallet starting at $28. After the Ravean wallet campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in July 2017. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Equilibrium watch

What is it?
The Equilibrium watch is unlike any watch I’ve seen before. It has almost every feature that a time geek would love. Some of the features built into the watch include dual time locations, compass, sunset, moonphase, calendar, alarm, stopwatch, and more. You need to watch the video above to see all of the settings. It takes him 7 minutes to demo all of them!

Why do I like it?
Even though I don’t wear one, I love watches and all the features in the Equilibrium make me drool. I was pretty sure that this watch would gobble batteries, but was surprised that they say it the built-in rechargeable lithium battery will run for 3 months on a charge. Impressive! This watch won’t be an impulse purchase since it’s almost $500, but watch geeks might want to splurge.

With a month left in their campaign, The Equilibrium watch campaign has already greatly met their funding goal of $25,000. You can pre-order a Equilibrium watch starting at $495. After the Equilibrium watch campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in June 2017. Visit their Indiegogo page for all the details.

Quotidian Pen

What is it?
The Quotidian Pen is a ballpoint pen that uses magnets to extend the pen tip.

Why do I like it?
One word: magnets! This is the first pen that I’ve seen that uses magnets to extend the writing tip. It also looks like it would be a fun fidget toy. The only downside that I see is that it uses a CROSS refill. I’d rather use a Pilot G2… but then I’m partial to that particular refill.

Where can I find more info?
With only 26 days left in their campaign, The Quotidian Pen campaign has already met and blew past their funding goal of $2875. You can pre-order a Quotidian Pen starting at $60. After the Quotidian Pen campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in August 2017. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

SKUNKLOCK: The only bike lock that Fights Back

What is it?
SKUNKLOCK is a bike U-lock that emits a horrible smelling chemical deterrent when someone tries to steal your bike by cutting through the lock.

Why do I like it?
I don’t ride a bike but if I did and I lived in an area where bike theft occurs, I’d want one of these locks just because I think karma is a b@#$%. If someone tries to steal something of mine, I want them to get a nice “surprise”. And by “nice”, I mean NOT nice.

FYI: The SKUNKLOCK can also be used with skooters and mopeds.

Where can I find more info?
With 18 days still left in their campaign, The SKUNKLOCK campaign has already greatly met their funding goal of $20,000. You can pre-order a SKUNKLOCK starting at $109. After the SKUNKLOCK campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in June 2017. Visit their Indiegogo page for all the details.
