crowdfund

There are so many crowdfunding campaigns these days that it’s easy to miss the good ones before they end and you miss out on buying something at a discounted price. That’s why I like to post these weekly roundup posts. All week I sift through campaign pitches that are sent to me and my own Kickstarter and Indiegogo surfing to find projects that I personally think are interesting. I know that if I think they are worth a look, that you will too. Click through to see what I found this week.

Flag・free photo prints – forever!

What is it?
Flag is an iOS app (an Android version of the app will be available soon) and a membership that will send you 20 color photo prints to you each month for life for free.

Why do I like it?
Being able to receive 20 free quality color 6×4 inch prints each month for life with no other charges or hidden fees sounds great for someone like me who loves to snap pictures with my phone. The images will be printed on archival quality paper that they claim will last for 300 years.

With 25 days left in the campaign, The Flag campaign has already greatly surpassed their funding goal of $10,000. You can pre-order a lifetime Flag membership starting at $49. After the Flag campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in March 2017. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

The BOT-L-BIT: Hex Bit Bottle Opener

What is it?
The BOT-L-BIT is a hex bit sized cap lifter that fits in a standard hex bit handle. The BOT-L-BIT can pop the cap on a tall one or for non-drinkers, it can be used to pop the lid on a paint can, scrape paint, caulk or more.

Why do I like it?
I like the BOT-L-BIT because it’s tiny, easy to carry and inexpensive. It’s also made by TEC Accessories. I’ve reviewed several of their products over the years and have never been disappointed.

With 24 days left in the campaign, The BOT-L-BIT campaign has some work to do before reaching their funding goal of $9,000. You can pre-order a BOT-L-BIT starting at $8. After the BOT-L-BIT campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in November 2016. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

The Skwallet Wallet

What is it?
Skwallet Wallet is an expandable minimalist wallet made of stainless steel that features a skeleton style design so that the information on the top and bottom cards can be seen without having to remove the cards. It also has a built-in bottle lifter.

Why do I like it?
It’s the exact size as a traditional credit card which I like. A lot of times so called minimalist wallets are actually too large and bulky for my tastes. That’s why the ones I like best have to be no larger than the footprint of a plastic credit card. That way they easily fit in my pocket. The Skwallet Wallet is also nice because it can expand if you need to carry more cards for some reason. It can even carry a few folded bills if you still like to carry a little cash.

With 21 days left in the campaign, The Skwallet Wallet campaign is very close to reaching their funding goal of $1,500. You can pre-order a Skwallet Wallet starting at $20. After the Skwallet Wallet campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in December 2016. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Why do I like it?
The Lanier Briefcase is made by Nock Co. If you’re into pens and notebooks, you should know that name and Brad Dowdy, who is the co-founder of Nock Co. Brad also runs the Pen Addict site. Nock Co. makes quality products that are simply designed and easy to use. The Lanier Briefcase looks like a handy EDC briefcase that will carry your gear as you go about your daily adventures.

Glance Clock

What is it?
The Glance Clock is a clock. Ok, it’s more than just a clock that provides the time of day. It’s a wall clock that also provides calendar alerts, fitness tracking info, reminders, weather and more.

Why do I like it?
Traditional wall clocks are useful but they can be even better. By syncing with your phone, the Glance Clock provides a spot in your home where you and others in your family can see info without having to pull out their phones, tablets or computers to access it. I really like the day at a glance clock face that shows your schedule in multiple segments and colors.

Where can I find more info?
With 13 days left in the campaign, The Glance Clock campaign has greatly surpassed their funding goal of $50,000. You can pre-order a Glance Clock starting at $129. After the Glance Clock campaign ends, rewards are estimated to start shipping in February 2017. Visit their Indiegogo page for all the details.

  2. I actually kind of like that Skywallet, may plunk down for one.
Otherwise, as someone who doesn’t drink beer, I am always fascinated by the seeming endless places people can put a bottle opener.
