Bluetooth headsets and USB car chargers are a dime a dozen. You can find them everywhere. But what you can’t find everywhere is a device that combines both of these together. The Evoplus Q9 car charger combines two separate USB ports with a built-in Bluetooth headset. One of the things I liked most about this innovative device is that the built-in headset is attached by a magnet and you always know where it is. When you aren’t using it, it has a nice home where you won’t easily lose or misplace it.
The charger has two magnetic contacts that align with the contacts on the contacts on the earpiece. You just place and with a slight twist, the earpiece snaps into place.
- Input: DC 12V/28V ; Output : DC 5V 2.1A + 5V 1A
- Transmission range: 2.40-2.48GHz; Battery capacity: 3.7V,25mAh
- Talk time: 1.5 hours ;Bluetooth version: 4.0 A2DP
- Size: 24*97mm ; Headset size:20*23mm
As you can see by the above picture, the earpiece is very small. The days of the old “Mission Control” Bluetooth devices are gone. This device is unobtrusive, and no bigger than a dime. A single button makes controlling the device very simple. The Q9 comes with three different earpiece inserts so sizing is not a problem. Once you find the size that fits your ear canal, you just stick in your ear and it stays in place.
In use, the Q9 headset performs very well. It accurately describes battery life at about 90 minutes of talk time. The single button control makes things simple where you can answer calls, reject calls, pause music or podcasts by using a series of long or single presses. I did not miss volume controls as it doesn’t have them but I had no issue with controlling the volume right from my phone. The Q9 offers A2DP Bluetooth support which means you can listen to your favorite podcasts or songs inconspicuously. The car charger also works as expected where you can charge two devices at once if you so desire.
In conclusion, I really liked this device. The sound quality was very good and the calls I made to people sounded fine on their end as well. The only thing I would wish for was a means to charge the earpiece outside of the car. If you are using the earpiece outside of the car and your battery goes dead, you would have to return to the car to charge. Recommended is a USB cradle to allow for A/C charging as an aftermarket item. I also liked the price. At $32.99, this is a bargain. If it had an option to charge outside of a car, it would be my everyday Bluetooth earpiece.
