Choosing the right printer usually comes down to the price of the printer and the price you’ll need to pay to replace ink or toner cartridges after the low capacity cartridges that come with the printer go empty. I don’t know about you but it always seems like I don’t need to use my printer until I’m already low or out of ink. To avoid the hassle coming up empty, Epson’s EcoTank supertank line of printers have you covered. These all-in-one printers feature a cartridge-free design and come with enough ink to keep you printing for up to 2 years! That’s the equivalent of about 50 ink cartridge sets or up to 11,000 printed pages. The new ET-16500 and ET-3600 (pictured above) bring low-cost, hassle-free color printing to businesses and the home. The WorkForce ET-16500 EcoTank ($1,199 MSRP) and Expression ET-3600 EcoTank ($399 MSRP) will be available mid-September 2016 through major computer, office and electronic superstores and www.epsonstore.com. 2. A few years back, I bought an Epson 810, which has a cartridge, but feeds it into a tank. I think these tankless ones are great, but, I think if you are like me, and don’t print much as I use to (I’m in a printing business, and have free access to EXPENSIVE printers all the way up to wide format), that if you let them sit without use, the ink will dry up in the tubes, which has happened to my 810.
Granted, this was one of the first tank/feedline type printers several years ago so perhaps they’ve improved the design to help prevent/eliminate the ink from drying up in the lines if you don’t use them very much.
