Here is this week’s list of 4 crowdfunding campaigns that have caught my eye in the last week for being unique, and worth checking out. Click through to see this week’s notable Kickstarter projects.

Skinners

What is it?
Skinners are engineered to be the ultimate in minimalistic, pocket footwear designed to go with you on all your adventures, travels and epic workouts. These high-tech “socks” are highly durable, anti-odor and meant to go everywhere you do.

Why do I like it?
Dave Rees: I travel a great deal for both work and play and find it a hassle to take classic running/workout shoes with me that add weight and take up a good amount of space in my luggage. The Skinners seem like an excellent way to lessen my load and still have the ability to workout or pound pavement whenever or wherever I want.

The Skinner campaign has blown past their initial funding goal of $10,000 with 37 days left in the campaign. You can pre-order a pair of Skinners for $35 with an estimated delivery date of August/September 2016. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

if… Pen

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/dcid/if-pen/

What is it?
if… Pen is a titanium pen that has a unique design that does not require caps, twisting, or button clicking.

Why do I like it?
I like this pen because it’s unlike any pen I’ve seen before. Instead of twisting, uncapping or clicking, you squeeze the grip to reveal the writing tip. It also uses a standard “Parker Style” G2 refill, which is my favorite.

The if… Pen campaign has a funding goal of $47,929 with 45 days left in the campaign. You can pre-order an if… Pen for $89 with shipping estimated for January 2017. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

SPYNDI Magic Sticks furniture

What is it?

“A perfect chair” – this is how Mindaugas Zilionis, one of the best-known designers from Lithuania, explains the concept of SPYNDI. “It consists of 60 loose elements that can be put together anyway you want. It is like a human spine – very strong and very flexible. It can be adjusted to any individual and bear any weight” – says the creator.

Why do I like it?
I like SPYNDI because it’s like LEGO furniture. It’s multiple molded strips (sticks) of wood that slide together to create a chair or other furniture piece. The ability to transform it into something new and different is a very cool concept. I like the look of it too. The only problem is that it’s very expensive…

The SPYNDI campaign has almost reached their funding goal of $39,781 with 21 days left in the campaign. You can pre-order SPYNDI for 990 EUR which is about $1111 US dollars with shipping estimated for November 2016. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.

Energysquare

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/700146891/energysquare-always-stay-charged

What is it?
Energysquare is a new wireless charging system that is comprised of a charging pad and special adhesive stickers that are installed on the mobile device. Energysquare has developed their own patented conductive charging technology that is different than existing wireless charging tech like Qi and PMA. Unlike existing technology, Energysquare is supposed to charge as fast as regular plugin chargers and one charging pad can accommodate multiple devices.

Why do I like it?
I like Energysquare because I’m a big fan of wireless charging. I’ve been using it for years and was sorry to give it up when I switched to the Nexus 6P. With the newest phones now having metal cases, wireless charging features seem to be disappearing. Energysquare looks like an easy way to add it to any phone that uses a micro USB, lightning connector or USB Type-C connector. All you do is plug in a low profile connector with a thin strip.

Where can I find more info?
The Energysquare campaign has already passed their funding goal of $33,630 with 10 days left in the campaign. You can pre-order Energysquare with one charging pad and 5 stickers for 69 EUR which is about $77 US dollars with shipping estimated for November 2016. Visit their Kickstarter page for all the details.
