Get notified when your friend’s iPhone battery is about to die

I can’t make up my mind if this app is cool, creepy or somewhere in between. Battery Share is an iOS app that will let you follow the battery status of your friend’s phone and will send a notification to your device when their battery is about to die. I’m not sure what the real purpose of the app is though. Does it help you become an all knowing battery overseer where you can email or text your friends to let them know that they better find a charger ASAP? Or maybe it’s just a way to make you feel better when your BFF stops answering your calls and text messages because you can check to see that their phone is dead and it’s not that they’ve stopped loving you. I guess it would be handy for nervous parents, but it just seems a bit weird to follow people’s battery status. Battery Share is priced at $0.99 and can be installed now (if your battery isn’t about to die) by heading over to iTunes.

The app shows what can be done and therefore it’s fairly cool but who would really ever use this?

That was my question too… I think parents would use it more than friends would use it.

I would use it as an insurance policy when travelling with friends. I think it would be useful any time you don’t want to lose touch with the people around you. There’s nothing worse than trying to meet up with someone, and you can’t call or text them. It would be good to know that you can touch base before their phone goes dead.

Ironically, it uses their battery power to tell you their battery charge level.
