Oh yes I totally agree. I do not know anyone who is able to keep the wired Apple EarPods, or indeed the AirPods, in place for long without experiencing some major irritation. I came across EarBudi on Ebay earlier this year and splashed out on two pairs for my iPhone and radio. They have utterly transformed my EarPods so now they can be worn for long periods in total and blissful comfort. It just goes to show that a clever and ingenious invention does not have to be complicated to be brilliantly effective.
