Google has announced that it’s going to shut down its Picasa Desktop application on March 15th, 2016 in order to focus entirely on Google Photos. If you are a user of the Picasa desktop app, it will continue to work, but the download link and updates will no longer exist after March. If you are a user of Picasa Web Albums, everything has already been migrated over to Google Photos, and will work as normal until May 1, 2016. Make sure you get the latest download and stash it away if you like Picasa for photo editing/organization for the desktop. More information can be found on the Google Photo blog.

  2. I thought I cared about this. But then I realized as it wouldn’t auto update correctly, that I’ve had Picasa installed but haven’t used it for years.
