The deep dive.  That’s what I call it when you try to plug up anything beside your bed at home.  Or in the hotel room.  Many times you have to go under the bed, or behind the headboard, or you have to move the bedside table, just to find an outlet.  And then you often have to decide what you want to unplug in order to plug up what you just climbed behind the bed to plug up. And then if you want to take the charger with you, you have to take another deep dive to retrieve it.  For the life of me, I don’t understand why all hotels don’t have power outlets built into the lamps beside every bed. But I digress.  Wouldn’t it be awesome if you had a device on your bedside table that could charge all your devices at the same time via either USB or regular power outlet, and it wasn’t a huge eyesore?  Look no further than the EasyAcc 3-port USB Desktop Power Strip Smart Charger.

This charger is beefy.  It’s heavy and solid, with the on/off switch on the side and rubber non-slip grips on the bottom to keep it from sliding around on the table. The 2 standard power outlets on the back of the charger are what you would expect in a regular power strip device, which means that they can protect your devices from lightning, surging, overcharge, overcurrent, and short-circuit.  What makes this charger special though is that there are 3 smart USB ports on the side.  That means that each port senses the maximum charging speed of your device and provides you that.  All in all, you can charge 5 devices at the same time without having to take the deep dive behind the bed.

In addition to the 5 charging ports, you’ll find something special on the front of the EasyAcc charger.  There is a pull-out adjustable stand that enables you to prop up your phone or small tablet (not entirely sure a full-size tablet would work with the stand) while charging, or perhaps to watch a movie on your device.  And if you aren’t interested in using the pull-out stand on the front, you can simply place your device on the smooth top.

Bottom line

This is hands-down one of the handiest gadgets I have ever owned.  I have owned numerous bedside chargers that have multiple USB ports, which is nice.  The EasyAcc steps up the game by providing 2 regular power outlets to give you power for everything else… laptops, lamps, clocks, or whatever needs power.  And the fact that the EasyAcc has a great look and design and doesn’t look like a power strip is the icing on the cake.

  2. Only 3 USB ports?

    Right now we charge:

    Power Port devices:
    A MacBook Air
    Windows Surface 3

    USB devices:
    Nexus 9
    iPad Mini
    iPad
    two iPhones 6S
    Apple Watch
    two Kindle Fires
    Mobi portable charger

I sometimes use a USB port to power a small fan to cool me off in the summer.

That’s 10 USB ports and two power ports.

And that’s not including the other iPad, old iPhone (with no SIM card), the other MacBook Air, the other portable battery charger, and several USB fans (daisy chained) that are charging on my office desk.

This is why I had an electrician come in last year and install 100+ new power outlets in my home. I have vowed never to use a surge protector power strip ever again! (Many of my power plugs have surge protectors built in.)

  3. I don’t need as many ports as Sandee (!), but I expect my next phone to support some type of fast charging capability and, hopefully, also wireless charging. Therefore, I don’t expect to buy another multiport charger that doesn’t support these. (And what a waste of that space on top of this device to NOT be a wireless charging pad! It’s a handy gadget, for sure, but for that price I’d hope it could offer more.)

  4. I am not sure a device exists for Sandee that would be able to charge all that in one place, and be small enough to look good! In fact this charger doesn’t chrage everything I need charged, but I don’t think it has to. I only use it for a handful of devices that I use at my bedside.

And surprisingly, the flat top is where I lay the device that I am charging. I don’t usually use the built in stand to stand up the device while charging. But I imagine a wireless charger on top would be handy for sure!

  5. I currently use a 7 port hub (on my side of the bed) and another 5 port hub for Terry.

The hub fits in the bottom a Bamboo Universal Multi Device Cord Organizer Stand and Charging Station from Mobilevision. They have several models, some of which have slots on the top to place the tablets and computers upright like in a filing cabinet. Avail on Amazon.

They even have an add-on bamboo clip that holds my Apple Watch charger.

They have many sizes, shapes, etc. And the bamboo matches the bamboo nightstand built into the platform bed.
