Wallets, like gear bags, are an every day necessity. But they can easily become stuffed with items that you don’t really need or use, becoming more of a burden to carry than a useful accessory. I think that’s why we’re seeing so many minimalist wallets on the market right now. People are tired of clutter and bulky wallets and are looking to unload and go basic. Bellroy who are well known for their high quality leather wallets, have recently introduced a new minimalist model called the Micro Sleeve Wallet. Let’s see if it’s the right fit for your pocket.

DON’T MISS: Saddleback Leather Co. Small Wallet Review

Available in 5 color combos, including the carmel version that was sent to me, this is a slim wallet made of premium full-grain vegetable tanned leather. It has a rectangular shape with rounded corners and a small logo stamped into the leather on one side.

The Micro Sleeve Wallet features two exterior credit card slots, one on each side. Each slot can accommodate two plastic credit cards of normal thickness or more if they are thinner. The angled pocket edge allows for easy retrieval of the cards.

In my opinion, the best feature of the Micro Sleeve, is the cash slot in the center. What makes it so great? The fact that it can hold cash that has only been folded once instead of twice like many minimalists wallets.

The center section can hold quite a few bills which are easily accessed by pinching the sides of the wallet.

I tested the Bellroy Micro Sleeve wallet with seven dollars, and four plastic credit cards. The wallet it holds everything securely in place with no worries that the cards or cash will fall out of the slots.

This wallet is slim and comfortable to carry in a front pocket, cargo side pocket or even a back pocket. I’ve been using it for the past few weeks and it’s my new favorite minimalist wallet because it’s so slim, easy to carry and holds just what I need.

This wallet has a price that makes it more than an impulse buy, but Bellroy products are very well made and I was unable to find any flaws in the leather or craftsmanship. You’ll also be happy to know that they’re warranted to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for three years from original date of purchase when used under normal conditions.

If you’ve been wanting to test the minimalist wallet waters, but haven’t been excited about any of the metal, elastic, or other offerings on the market, go take a look at the Bellroy Micro Sleeve. I think you’ll like what you see.

  2. Got this wallet for Christmas, love it and as a wallet freak it’s great. I had a slim sleeve prior, loved it too, but this micro sleeve is super and quality is out of here.

  3. I’m very particular about wallets, always searching for the perfect model. I use their larger model, which is the best wallet I’ve ever found. Key is access and the way it’s organized. It let’s you put items in multiple pockets, depending on priority of use and makes it very easy to access.
PS: To avoid back problems, always carry wallet in front pocket. More secure too.

    1. I’m really picky about wallets too. I still prefer my Waterfield Designs zippered wallets for every day. But the Bellroy Micro Sleeve is going to be my new weekend, vacation wallet. It’s the perfect size.
