That’s a good deal. I have a 5 cam Arlo system in my house that I purchased in August and yesterday I had a warning to replace one cams batteries…not bad at all considering it was in a high traffic place and quite far away from router. The other 4 cams are still showing as batteries OK! They are great little cams and with the magnetic bases I can stick them all over the place direct onto any metal or onto the included metal domes that are shipped with the cams. I use the free 1gb service and that is more than adequate for me. I recommend them for what they are: a simple, reasonably good security cam with all weather capability.

I wonder if Eneloop makes rechargeables in that size? We’re getting ready to review Netgear’s other camera but I’d like to review the Arlo!

When I bought the cams in Best Buy I wanted to buy more batteries as well. The CR123 size was available in blister packs of 2 at $15 a pack. Seeing as each cam requires 4 batteries and I have a 5 cam set up that was 10 blister packs for $150! Ouch. There is another reason. I live in Chile and it is impossible to travel with these lithium batteries in luggage. Its OK if they are inside cams but not spares, definately not 20,30 or 40 etc that I wanted. Therefore I didn’t buy them and when I got back home I went searching and found a 100 pack on Aliexpress for $100. The Chinese manage to get round the lithium shipping issue I guess!! Of course, these Chinese batteries are not Energizers and will not last as long but even if they give me half the life then they will be half as cheap as Energizers! As for rechargeables, the Arlo forums are full of tales of feeble charge life and the like. The cams require 3.6v and rechargables are only 3.0v or something along those lines. I’m not a battery geek but it seems disposable are better than rechargeables in these cams. I am also eagerly awaiting the new Arlo Q indoor wired cam which I shall buy a few of on my next trip to shoppers paradise, the US!
