According to the excellent AppleWorld.Today, Apple is adding a new item for in-store and online purchasing on Friday: an Apple-branded charging stand for Apple Watch. The white saucer-shaped unit will feature a flip-up charging puck, so that the user can have the Watch flat or on it’s side, in order to use “Nightstand Mode“. This mode is a feature of watchOS 2, which allows you to have the Watch on it’s side while charging, and the time will show dimly when it is moved. Fifteen minutes before an alarm is set to ring, the time will also be displayed very dimly, growing brighter until the alarm actually rings.

The charging stand is priced at $79/€89.

This marks the first Apple Watch accessory released by the Cupertino, CA firm other than bands. Can AppleWatch socks be far behind?

  2. Oh I hope they have them in stock on Saturday as I am flying up to US on Friday from Chile for a day’s shopping on Saturday then out again on Sunday. I was hoping to pick up an iPad pro and the pencil and keyboard but looks like those last 2 aren’t going to be around. Going to pick up a tan leather watch strap too. Apple store Aventura Mall, you listening?!!

  3. I bought two of these chargers. Nice product! I also bought myself an Apple Watch Hermes (thats 4 Apple watches I have bought now!!), repaired my 6S, bought some straps for my watch, some cases for the 6S, a very neat Polaroid Zink Portable Wireless printer (v. cool!) to print direct from iPhone, two 64gb Apple TV 4th Gen and was about to pull the trigger on an Ipad Pro but without the pencil I held out. A great trip although flying 8000 miles was a little crazy for a 1 day of shopping but hey-ho!
