The inCharge is a 3.5 inch long USB charging cable that can be attached to your keyring so it will always be handy when you need it. This cable was a successfully funded indieGoGo project from last year and is now available through indieGoGo’s InDemand service. Let me show you more about it.

The inCharge is a little over 3.5 inches long and features a USB 2.0 A connector on one end and a micro USB or Lightning connector on the opposite end. The cable between the two connectors comes in eight different colors. I was sent the orange version. Also included with the inCharge cable is a split ring keyring.

The end connectors have magnets that allow it to fold and attach to the keyring with a satisfying click.

Once folded and attached, the inCharge cable takes up very little space or bulk. It makes a great addition to a minimalist’s EDC collection.

How does it work? Just open the cable and plug one end into a computer or USB AC adapter and the other end into a gadget like the LG G3 shown above. Once connected the cable performs the same as any other USB cable. It will allow charging and / or data syncing. The cable is short but flexible. But it’s hard to know how well it will hold up with frequent folding and unfolding.

The inCharge is priced at $9 for either the micro USB or Lightning version and includes free US shipping. The cable looks good and works great but is over priced for a 3.5 inch long cable when you can find a generic 6 inch cable on Amazon for less than $2. Of course the Amazon cable doesn’t attach to your keychain or come in eight colors. It comes down to your willingness to pay a premium price for color choice and an ability to easily carry it on your keychain. Is the price worth it to you?

I ordered one. $9, free shipping. They say August shipping date. I like how easy it is to snap to a keyring or bag, etc. Great idea. Thanks, Julie, for bringing this to our attention.

  3. I had one and lost it within less than a week, the piece of $%*& just detached when getting it out of my pocket I’m guessing.
