If you’re like our family, you’ve been waiting and hoping that Microsoft would make Xbox One backward compatible before purchasing one (we didn’t want to spend money on a new console and then have to spend more to purchase new games just to use it). Well, it took long enough, but that day is here at last! It is available right now for Xbox Preview members (by invitation only) but will be available to all starting this fall. Xbox Live Gold is not required for backward compatibility, there will be no additional cost, it will work with disc-based and digital games, and you can play multiplayer no matter what console your friends are using (multiplayer requires Xbox Live Gold). They will be making available over a hundred of the most popular and highly rated games first and say that hundreds more will be added each month.
The digital titles that you own and are part of the Back Compat game catalog will automatically show up in the “Ready to Install” section on your Xbox One. For disc-based games that are a part of the Back Compat game catalog, simply insert the disc and the console will begin downloading the game to your hard drive. After the game has finished downloading, you will still need to keep the game disc in the drive to play.

They better hurry up, Currently they only have 21 listed. Although the timing is bad/good. I recently gave my newer 360 and games to a friend for his son, and our old one just Red ringed on July 3rd. But what I really would like is backwards compatibility with my PS3 games….on my umm PS4.
