If space is at a premium on your desk, you’ll like the Satechi Aluminum USB 3.0 SATA III HDD/SSD Docking Station with 2-port Hub and SD Card Reader.  The aluminum docking station allows you to add 2.5″ or 3.5″ HDD or SSD disks without needing an enclosure, and you’ll be able to quickly switch between HDD and SDD disks using the Docking Station’s SATA I/II/III interface.  Connect the Docking Station to your computer using the USB 3.0 port on the back of the station; it is fully compatible with Mac OSX, Windows 8, 7, Vista, and XP, and backwards-compatible with USB 2.0 hosts and devices.   You’ll find two USB 3.0 ports in the hub on the front of the Station (with data transfer rates of up to 5.0Gbps) and a card reader for SD, SDXC, or SDHC cards.

The Satechi Aluminum USB 3.0 SATA III HDD/SSD Docking Station with 2-port Hub and SD Card Reader is available for $54.99 from Satechi.  You can also purchase it from Amazon.

  2. Very sexy looking unit. I have a StarTech unit, which does not function as a hub or sd reader, and it’s ugly. But it is useful. Wouldn’t mind trying this one out.
